What should we do in Ukraine and with Russia? Thirty years ago when the Soviet Union collapsed, America started to press Russian territorial security. I thought at the time, Why do that? They moved to Capitalism, seem to be moving toward democracy and our actions would only make them nervous.
Well, here we are thirty years later, and this is where NATO and our actions have gotten us. While I'm not a fan of Putin, the Russian people have security interests just like every other country. Frankly, as I've said before, we should have been playing up our friendship with Russia because we could use them against China, our real potential adversary. Unfortunately, hatred of Trump turned our logic against ourselves, so here we are.
Interesting that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said what he said which correlates to what I felt was back when. It seems to have come to a crisis, something that should have been averted decades ago.

US and NATO responses fail to address Russia's main concerns, says Foreign Minister Lavrov
Moscow (CNN)The written responses presented by the United States and NATO to Russia's security demands fail to address Moscow's concerns over the eastward expansion of the military alliance, Russia's Foreign Minister said Thursday as fears of a possible invasion of Ukraine remain high.
"There is no positive reaction on the main issue in this document," Sergey Lavrov told journalists in Moscow. "The main issue is our clear position on the inadmissibility of further expansion of NATO to the East and the deployment of strike weapons that could threaten the territory of the Russian Federation."https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/27/europe/ukraine-russia-news-thursday-lavrov-intl/index.html
