That confirms it, then.  Alan has spoken.
Here's a survey that covers what Americans seem to be concerned about.  Not too many were thinking about Trump.  I think they're all here in LuLa. :)

First the knee jerk:
Trump isn't even on a list of things most Americans care about.
Then this (which apparently he didn't read or understand):
Not too many were thinking about Trump.

What was reported:

Losing Harris as VP wouldn't cause a big anguish. But if the journalists could shuffle the VP's, they might as well pick a better replacement than Hillary.

Very unlikely Harris will be anything but VP and tie breaker.
Alan is dreaming again with respect to Clinton. Our nightmare.

Or sometimes (and sometimes not) in plain sight playing golf.

Don't complain. We should remember that the more time Trump played golf instead of "governing," the better off we all were.

True. We paid dearly for both.

Even Biden can't get more oil production which will only hurt democrat chances in November. The price of oil will go higher and gas at the pump continues to rise as well.  The funny thing, Biden was against these oil leases during the campaign that Trump supported. He reversed himself as President because of the escalating price of gasoline.  So now the courts screwed Biden.  And the judge who made the ruling was an Obama appointee. Karma.

'Huge Victory' as Judge Blocks Biden's Oil Lease Sale in Gulf of Mexico
A federal judge late Thursday blocked the Biden administration's massive oil and gas lease sale in the Gulf of Mexico, a significant win for environmentalists as they work to prevent the Interior Department from handing public lands and waters over to the fossil fuel industry.

In his 68-page decision (pdf), Judge Rudolph Contreras of the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. wrote that the Biden administration violated federal law by not adequately accounting for the emissions impact of the sale, which would have been the biggest offshore oil and gas lease sell-off in the country's history.

"This is a huge victory for our climate, endangered whales, and Gulf communities."
Climate groups characterized the sale—held just days after the COP26 summit in Glasgow—as the equivalent of "lighting the fuse of a massive carbon bomb."

"The Department of the Interior acted arbitrarily and capriciously in excluding foreign consumption from their greenhouse gas emissions calculation," Contreras, an Obama appointee, found.

The Biden Interior Department, which now must conduct a fresh environmental review, had relied on an analysis completed under the Trump administration, which was teeming with allies of the fossil fuel industry.

That Americans would base their choice of their ultimate leader on the price of gas is nothing if not extremely disappointing.

First, the elections in November are for congressional seats, not the president.  However, the party in power usually gets blamed for inflation. So Democrats are under the gun.

It's not just gasoline.  Everything has gone up.  See below. Even stripping out gasoline and other fuels and food, inflation ran 4.9% the highest in 40 years.   The thing about inflation on gasoline and food, people are always filling up their gas tanks and refrigerators.  So they see just how much inflation is costing them daily or weekly.  If inflation goes down in the third quarter, it would help Democrats.  If it doesn't, they'll blame Fed Chairman Powell who's a Republican.  :)

Canada has had inflation too but not as much as in America.  How has that affected your politicians?  Are Canadians upset?

A key inflation measure rose at the fastest pace since 1982
A key measure of inflation rose 5.8% between December 2020 and December 2021, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Friday.
It was the biggest advance since 1982.
Energy prices alone rose nearly 30% over the course of 2021, while food prices climbed 5.7%.
Stripping out those two components, the core consumer price index -- which is the Federal Reserve's preferred measure of inflation -- rose 4.9% in the 12 months to December. That was the fastest price hike by that measure since 1983.
For the month of December alone, prices rose 0.4% -- a decline from the 0.6% in both October and November. Core prices advanced 0.5%, the same amount as in November.

I think, using the word "damp" was totally inappropriate.

We understand that.  But it's you that keeps blaming Biden for high gas prices.  Inexplicably.

I understand there are other factors like OPEC, collusion between the Arabs and Russians, unprofitability of fracking, etc.  But voters will remember that the first thing Biden did was shut down the Keystone XL pipeline and shut down Trump sales of oil exploration leases in the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere.  He declared war on oil telling everyone to move on to renewables.

Then when he saw the cost of gas going up, he changed direction slightly and opened up the Trump Gulf lease sales only to be shut down again by the courts.  So he didn't do his homework to prevent that from happening.  The blame goes to him.  He released millions of gallons of oil from our strategic reserves.  The prices didn't blink.  Everything he's done has hurt oil and he keeps tripping over himself.  The republicans will remind the voters before the election.
