Some people think the moon landing was faked, so it is still an open issue.
A Stanley Kubrick film?  ;D
You just can't trust those photographers....
OK, enough nonsense, gotta go sign Alan's Social Security check with the others.

While you are at it, I would appreciate your signing (and sending) my $600 stimulus check. It still hasn’t arrived.

Mine either.  But I don't think the citizens get to sign these since its not our money, most likely. Its likely either borrowed or printed.

Right.

I knew exactly where the words were located, since I posted the link upthread.

Aldrin uttered those words as the contact probe from the Lunar Module touched the surface of the moon.  Making his words "contact light" the first words uttered from the surface of the moon.

Still wrong.  The contact probe dangled a few feet below the landing pads.  When Aldrin said "contact light", they were still in powered descent.

The first words from the lunar surface were "Okay, engine stop."

You're welcome.

You know that old and very dirty joke about the three biggest lies in the world (and does Alan)?
The one that is not dirty: “The check/cheque is in the mail”. 😂

Yes the probes were below the lander but they were PART of the lander and the second they contacted the surface, they were on the surface of the moon.  Power or no power.

Sorry but you have it wrong, again.

Copy and paste (and analysis at the end is not mine but I have to agree that Craig:
Quote
This is a transcript of the final moments of the landing of the lunar module Eagle on the Moon. The time is given as time into the mission - in this case, starting at 102 hours, 45 minutes, and 25 seconds from launch. “Duke” is astronaut Charles Duke, who was acting as Capcom in Houston at the time of the landing.

102:45:25 Aldrin: 4 forward. 4 forward. Drifting to the right a little. 20 feet, down a half.

102:45:31 Duke: 30 seconds.

102:45:32 Aldrin: Drifting forward just a little bit; that's good. (Garbled) (Pause)

102:45:40 Aldrin: Contact Light.

102:45:43 Armstrong (onboard): Shutdown

102:45:44 Aldrin: Okay. Engine Stop.

102:45:45 Aldrin: ACA out of Detent.

102:45:46 Armstrong: Out of Detent. Auto.

102:45:57 Duke: (Reporting that Houston has received telemetry confirming engine shutdown and that they have heard Buzz’s transmission regarding address 413) We copy you down, Eagle.

102:45:58 Armstrong (onboard): Engine arm is off. (Pause) (Now on voice-activated comm) Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.

102:46:06 Duke: (Responding to Neil's transmission but momentarily tongue-tied) Roger, Twan...(correcting himself) Tranquility. We copy you on the ground. You got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We're breathing again. Thanks a lot.

The “first word spoken on the Moon” depends on just when you consider the landing to have taken place. If it’s at the point when any portion of Eagle touches the lunar surface, then this happens at 102:45:40, and the first word spoken is “contact.” If we mean the first word spoken after Eagle is stable on the lunar surface, then it would be around 102:45:43, and might have been any in the sequence of “Okay, engine stop” or “ACA out of detent.” And if it’s the first word spoken after Armstrong and Aldrin believed themselves to be finished with all the immediate tasks associated with the landing, then the first word spoken would probably be “Houston.”

you were full of it.

you are truly absurd... and I am laughing at you.

I see you're wearing the same style of writing as last season—"it just makes you look silly.  But quite frankly its spot on, for you."

He made three points, one you stand by.

Cruz is back from Mexico. His original flight plan was to come home Saturday. Now what will he do to help Texans?

His post is nonsense as it has zero to do with any of my facts or opinions and was just a personal attack.  Thats his choice.

I don't have to listen.  And I won't.

I don't have to listen.  And I won't.

It was commentary and critique on writing style. A style that routinely contains a scattershot of personal insults seasoned with contemptuous mockery.

Although it will be hard to top...

Wow! She must be some kind of extraordinarily powerful individual to scare a company the size of Amazon. She's just one congresswoman from NYC and her political position is a federal one, not state or local.

Are you sure that her opposition to massive local tax incentives, among other issues, tells the full story of why Amazon decided not to locate there?

The Democrat mayor and democrat governor made the deal with Amazon because it was good for NYC and good for NYS.  AOC created such a furor about basically nothing, Amazon decided to pull out to avoid be lambasted in a political storm.  They figured rightly that they would get all kinds of static and said to themselves who needs that aggravation.  Screw NY.  They moved their plans for a new headquarters to another city, I think Atlanta.

I worked in the area Amazon wanted to move to for forty years in Long Island City in Queens, just over the East River from mid-town Manhattan.  There are many poor people and low-income projects there, mostly minority.  It would have been a boon for the very kind of constituents that AOC represents.  She's a dodo bird.
