The new guy Kyriakos Mitsotakis won with  39.8% of the popular vote.   Trump won with 46% of the vote.  Yeah, I know. Hillary got 48%.  But more people wanted Trump than wanted Mitsotakis.  Maybe we should send Trump to run Greece.  He could build some golf courses there and hotels.

First good idea. He could then convert their present fiscal woes into "great" fiscal woes"; and go bust just in time to extricate himself. Win win.

Do you understand that Greece does not have a 2 party system, and that 20 parties were running?

The final result for the "New Democracy" party is that they get 52.67% of all parliament seats (includes the 50 bonus seats for the largest party), after elimination of those parties that didn't meet the 3% of votes threshold.

Regardless of the reason, less people voted for the Greek president than voted for the American president, percentage wise.  It's just very interesting to me after listening to so many Europeans "knock" Trump for getting so few votes.

It's also interesting that like the American system, where the federal system distorts the final electoral vote and senate makeup, the Greek system of 50 bonus votes distorts the makeup in the Greek parliament.  Neither system's end results match the popular vote.  Do they still have a Senate?  We stole ours from them.

And what's worse, now the same dynasty that helped cause the Greek economic crisis in the first place, is back in power.
One can only hope the Greek people will reap some benefits from the unpopular repairs by the previous government.

One wonders what might happen in America if democrats become president and take over the senate in 2020.  Our press has always favored redistribution.  Just look at the way they publicize AOC, a first-term congresswomen.  I get this feeling about her that her "star" power will continue.  She's like a Lenin before the start of the Russian Revolution.  She's charismatic, tough, smart, and would tear your heart out to advance her plans.  I think she will become a force to deal with in the future if Americans forget their past.

Yet, she's only one of an incoming lot of millennials who fear that they will reap the sour grapes of what the current dinosaurs (on both sides of the aisle) fail to address. They are going to shake up the status quo. It's their future, so who could blame them.

I've been fortunate enough to spend a good deal of time in Amsterdam, and honestly didn't really find there to be a huge culture shock.  Great museums, good food, strong local transportation options and easy access to the rest of Europe, socially tolerant culture, and everyone speaks decent English for those of us that don't speak Dutch. 

What's not to love?
