It's a tribute to hawkers in Singapore. part of a series. it'll only make sense if you've been to hawker centres there. On the other hand, it's also good if it doesn't make sense

Despite any personal opinions here you have achieved something that most photographers can only dream about. I can scroll through thousands of pictures on internet and in a split second I will recognize Frank Doorhof work even before I see an Elinchrom logo. It is unmistakable yours, your style - love it or hate it.
The only other photographer I can say the same about it is Jorgan Teller. Most people I know can't even understand the phenomena of his success, my young assistants are saying " the King is nude"
but never less is the king.

I personally have a problem with the statement that photography is an art. I believe that photography can be an art, but it take an artist to make it an art. Has nothing to do with the media of photography by itself.

I agree 100%.

Photography can be a form of art. Like writing, singing, painting, gardening or cooking.

But i don't think that Ronald Mc Donald or the Colonel Sanders of KFC are great artists. But they have a lot of "restaurants".

And their products are easy to recognize !

I personally agree that while anyone can take a photograph that single act does not necessary make the person a photographer. Same with art, it takes a very special talent to turn a photograph into a piece of art; add to that, a mechanic has a skill while an artist has a talent. This thread containing a heck of a lot of images reinforces (at least to me) that we are privileged to have some very great talent amongst our members.

Hi,

A series of studio portraits of a group of people that live together on a veranda in the inner city. Some stay behind to guard their few belongings while the others go to beg on the street corners. They make about R50-00 ( 6.5 usd ) per day.

Get over yourself, relax. csp is in all likelihood a chick, and not a guy. Probably strung a little too tight (so to speak). You may have on occasion put a lady in a cage. I may have put one in chains. I'm sure the right-wing, moralist photogs can gather and reminisce on Mark Tuckers private forum. In the meantime, enjoy your life, and enjoy your work.

This is a great image. I noticed you shot it with the 80mm AF. If this is the newer Mamiya lens can you comment on how you like it?

I am about to take delivery on one and wondered about the quality and sharpness.

we just got this done yesterday and haven't had the time to clean it up yet...but what the heck right?

Hi Ed,

Thanks. I have an older 80mm AF lens. Still, it is very sharp, though I find 55 mm even sharper at the edges. Good luck with your lens.
