When you look back the whole thing is caused by two people (one in particulair) look at that ones posts and you will find most is not participating but looking for trouble.

I think that some other posters are extra "careful" now and maybe read too much between the lines, just relax, ignore the "trolls" and post beautiful work.

I don´t quite know how to take that, particularly as I hardly ever post on this particular thread/section because I have no MF camera any more and my sole interest is in looking at photographs, some of which I enjoy very much and others which I couldn´t care less about. But that is always just my opinion, nothing cast in stone, cement or even waxwork.

The same might apply to Frank´s latest post, as I don´t remember writing anything much about him - perhaps his post wasn´t meant for me, but who can tell: obviously, I can´t.

As for the point of criticism. I don´t think there is any criticism in a pejorative sense in my recent post. I am simply stating that one specific shot blowns my head off, whilst others from the same man do not and I explained why. Something wrong with that? Perhaps the wrong opinion, or just an extension of what Ray is finding on his doorstep?

And as for Michael closing the thread - why on Earth would he do that? This isn´t a religious forum (is it?) nor particularly politically correct, thank God; maybe some think les of Michael´s maturity than do I.

Professional photographers cannot afford to be prima donnas. The moment you get into that bag you are lost. I have been there, briefly, and found the price too high to be worth the candle. If you think your stuff worth posting, then that´s enough justification for any one person. To expect the world to do a sycophantic tango about your legs is bullshit. And it doesn´t matter: clients count, not other snappers.

Anyhow, it´s nice to see what goes for pro photography today.

I was agreeing with you on the emotion of the photographs.... they are intended to be"cold" as they were shot for a healthcare outdoor campaign and " harsh reality " was the objective.

But..... #1 & #2 required much more skill to accomplish then the #3 image....

I do not post negative feedback on the forum... my mum taught me the if I can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Does anyone remember the 50s Studebaker that looked the same from both ends?

Ah Frank, that it were that simple or that easy!

Much beautiful work has been posted, but that´s just my opinion and so how can it matter or be true? Much neutral material has also seen the light of day, but again, how could anyone, least of all myself, be able to tell? Rubbish, too, has been highlighted, but as with the former groups, who can tell which is which?

You begin to see the problems? You understand how impossible it is for anyone other than an idiot to nod his head and claim that all images published here are created equal?

I infer from your most recent posts that you are less than happy that I have found one of your pictures to be wonderful; you feel, perhaps, that if they do not all excite me, you have either failed or I am a troll? Strange logic, but then, as I mentioned elsewhere, so has golf, where pèople use the most inappropriate tools to perform a specific task. This is true - I have seen people do it, trust me.

Frank, your way of doing things suits what you want to do; that´s usually quite enough for most people. You´re ahead - enjoy it, but just ask yourself one question: what was the magic in that one special shot, that I see, but that I do not see, in the other pictures?

I think you understand me wrong.
I was NOT attacking you, I don't really feel offended when someone does not like my pictures, or others do, that's art.

Photography is an artform and I have always learned (and teach) that in art there is no right or wrong, there is only personal opinion and taste.

I have also learned that when ventilating your personal opinion one should always remember that it IS a PERSONAL opinion, and not a right or wrong.

I can't see where you did me wrong, or were you were rude.

I do see that the remarks about Mark Dutreaux were rude and got me upset.
I have a son myself and cannot imagine what I would do when something would happen to him.
I also have a loving wife and I will NEVER EVER think about hurting her, so the remarks about me being down and dirty to women, or even advertising slavery hit me indeed on the wrong note.
However after some thoughts about it I decided it was not worth the fuss and people should just ignore it.

Again, photography is an ART form and there are no rights or wrongs (well within limits that is, I would never show a women being beaten with a stick in a agressive way, maybe as humor yes, but not in ANY way it could be taken the wrong way).

When I post I always try to be kind and give good critique or help out.
I will never ever put someone down, be rude or be downtalking, that's why sometimes it's hard for me to swallow that still some people find joy in trying to hurt others in that way.

I was once told the story about a very very good photographer who could not get work because he was an Ahole, and all the work went to a much lesser photographer that was good to work with, somehow that always sticks to my mind and with posts like this I always wonder how the person posting it is in real life.

AND AGAIN, I did not attack you, read again and see the Mark Dutreaux remark and you know who I mean , also look at his posts on this forum and you see a trend (not only towards me), it's a shame that he cannot show :
A. his own work (which should be pretty spectaculair)
B. some respect to FELLOW photographers
C. some respect to the community which is called Luminous Landscape

For me the LL forums is one of the kindest I visit and the only one I visit more times a day just because I love the atmosphere and the good answers from the real pros that hang arround here.
Don't let that be spoiled.
And I know I shouldn't have responded but then again, I also have feelings and the MD comment really hit my nerve.

Franky,

Get over yourself, relax. csp is in all likelihood a chick, and not a guy. Probably strung a little too tight (so to speak). You may have on occasion put a lady in a cage. I may have put one in chains. I'm sure the right-wing, moralist photogs can gather and reminisce on Mark Tuckers private forum. In the meantime, enjoy your life, and enjoy your work.

Not even thinking about the sexual content etc, very intriguing depth and shadows, tonal quality. Very moody. Very impressive! well done!

I put people in boxes ... but its not about sexuality, its about how people build walls around themselves.   A lot of my images have to do with the idea that it hard to decide what to do with oneself.  The box is a metaphor for holding you in, containing you and preventing you from taking action.  You create your own box by not being able to decide what to do with your life.

Strong picture - the milk one - it certainly makes you look! But has it got any meaning beyond what one sees?

don't worry, I hear that soya milk is good for the skin.
Speaking of starvation, here's something totally politically incorrect
