Sometimes, news reports are too funny for words. Yesterday's meeting with members of cabinet that Vance hosted, without Trump's presence, was described in at least one report as "secret".

Hell, if I know about it, can't be much of a secret.

Done bellyaching yet?
You have this odd repetitive habit of asking questions of others, both here and on PhotoNet (two sites dedicated to photography, an activity of which there is zero proof you've tried), when your posting history and agenda show/prove, you have no desire or ability to accept any answer. No need to ask questions.
A partial paper trail for your readers new to your posting agenda and made up concepts:

Well ok, but did they ever find out who was eating the dogs?

Btw, are you tired of winning yet?

Yep, we can’t know what we are unable to know. Thank God for that!

The FBI now wants to round up the refugee Texan Democrats in Illinois. What law have they broken? It seems funny to me that they had to leave the state to prevent quorum. Couldn't they just go golfing or something and not show up at the legislature? There must be some weird rule in effect about state lines.

The latest in the gerrymandering "crisis" is that Trump is calling for a new census. Doing one every 10 years isn't good enough for him. He wants it to NOT count people who are in the country illegally this time, which defeats the purpose of a census, which is to get as accurate a picture as possible of what's going on. Seems like a lot of trouble to go to, why doesn't he just jimmy the numbers in the existing census. He's so good with numbers after all.

I read a headline that Republicans in blue states may be worried about tit for tat gerrymandering in their states. No shit Sherlock. The real problem is that gerrymandering is a result of allowing political parties to have a say in the design of voting districts, which is about as stupid an idea as it's possible to have. The Soviets used to have elections with only one choice on the ballot. It was a con too but at least they were up front about it, you have to respect that at least. :)

Here in NC we are one of the most gerrymandered states in the country. The popular vote for US House splits almost evenly but the GOP has a 10:4 majority in seats. The situation is the same in the state legislature, which has been busy overriding Gov Stein's vetos.

Just to elaborate on this a bit longer to make sure the horse really is dead. I would not have characterized my postings as "bellyaching". I would have used the terms "ridiculing" or "making fun of", but I admit that it's not easy being objective about oneself. I find current US politics to be a farce, and how can anyone not want to make fun of it? But hey, maybe it's just me. I've always enjoyed gallows humour, but it may not be to everyone's taste.

Here's something from this morning's crop of youtube videos. There was some reporting about a bunch of ICE agents who arrived at a rural area to chase down and arrest farm workers. Why they thought there were 'illegals' there and why there were videographers there ready to shoot some film was not discussed. Who tipped them off? Anyway, I thought it was funny that the storm troopers showed up in trucks rented from Penske. I think it was Penske, that's what my wife told me, and I didn't bother replaying it to verify because, well, who really cares. But I wondered if that was product placement and if it was the rental company that tipped off the videographers for the free publicity. Of course this is just lame speculation on my part, but who would be surprised if this were true?

They interviewed one of the farm owners afterwards and he expressed fear of going belly-up. His crop prices were already low and now the government was taking away his labour force. If I were a journalist, I'd be keeping an eye out to see who will buy up all the farmland that might be put on the auction block. My advice to farmers is to buy some Trump meme coins, quick, and brag about it on social media. The ICE agents might then move on to someone else's farm. Maybe the 'illegal migrants' can buy up some Trump coins themselves, maybe start a GoFundMe campaign.

The satire nearly writes itself.

I heard an incredible statistic the other day on a podcast, but I can't remember which one so I can't provide a link nor have I verified that it's even true. They stated that the budget for ICE has already surpassed that of the US Marines. I find this hard to believe, maybe someone reading this can say. If it were true, you'd think they could afford their own trucks. I'd like to see the brand of the trucks.

Maybe they are rented from MGM Studios; they do a lot of fantasy.

Someone is shooting a new Spiderman movie - in Glasgow, of all places. Will there be a special tariff on all exhibiting of it, there or back in the US of A?

My daughter tells me it’s funny to see the stars and stripes hanging from old Scottish buildings. Perhaps it isn’t funny at all, just an early warning of things to come or, at least, things planned: with so much Scottish golf land already in the Trumpian portfolio,  nothing is beyond belief. What‘s a city or three; probably worth less than the courses.

I wouldn't worry, I doubt this crowd could organize an orgy at the Epstein mansion.

I read that Trump has brought in federal agents to police D.C. Was there a specific reason for this? I hadn't heard of any recent spike in crime in D.C. that was getting out of control, but I could easily have missed something. Is it purely distraction? There's no governor in D.C. to object like there is in California. Might be another martial law field test. I haven't detected that much displeasure with what happened in L.A., and my guess is that Trumpistan followers are fine with losing their civil rights. After all, Americans are normalized by now to cops doing the nasty to innocent people.

I got a kick out of Hegseth forwarding or re-tweeting (or whatever) that conversation between two evangelical pastors who argued for taking the vote away from women. I had heard this argument before from another pastor. His reasoning was that if a wife had an independent vote, she could potentially nullify her husband's vote, which he seemed to regard as a bad thing. But what about single women, is it ok for them to vote, since there is no husband in the picture.

Looks like Trump and Putin are meeting to discuss the Ukraine war but no one from the Ukraine is invited, so that meeting will accomplish a lot I'm sure.

The Epstein story is still hanging around but the longer it does the less people will take notice. They're probably already running out of outrage and I can understand that. If there's no video yet of Trump doing the nasty, there probably won't be so we may already be past peak scandal. Honestly, if you still ok with him after all that he's done already, why would a sex scandal change anything. Besides which, it's all moot. Worst case is that they find something really incrminating, all he has to do is resign, then Vance steps in and pardons him, easy peazy. No need to even try to invoke Presidential immunity. On that subject, I wonder what the bookie line is on a Ghislaine pardon.

Distraction works: so far, it’s keeping US and Israel head honchos out of court and avoiding facing serious charges and possible prison holidays. The tactic isn’t new, and here in Spain, corruption has been a finely honed skill, with absolutely nobody beyond falling to the mixture of the charms and hubris of temptation, and the belief in permanent good luck and power.

FWIW, I am currently seeking refuge in my, what, fourth? watching of Justified. John Wick got about the same number of viewings, but when I came to the stage where I could see the dialogue coming up, I thought to myself no, enough already. There is more reward in going to bed instead.
