This is one of the few times we agree, Robert.  If the situation was reversed, and she was the wife of a Democrat selected justice, Democrats would be calling her attackers misogynistic, plain anti-woman, that it's none of anyone's business what an independently strong woman citizen believes and is active in doing.  It's her life and her husband, the justice, is certainly smart enough to not allow her beliefs to influence his in making constitutional decisions.

Ginni Thomas did not just act "in ways that some people don't like." She suborned perjury, pressured elected and appointed state officials to violate their oaths, and made an enormous concerted effort to overturn a perfectly legitimate election. As for justice Thomas being able to ignore her opinions, gimme a break. He is half brain-dead and anyway, if he ignored her, she'd pound him to a pulp.

I don't know about their relationship.  I don't sleep in their bed.  Speaking of half-brain dead, it sounds like you're talking about Biden.  ;)

What do any of these things have to do with illegal immigration?  It seems every time someone brings up Biden's and the Democrat policy failures, they change the subject to Trump.  I don't think that's going to work any more.  I guess Democrats have nothing left to argue with.

It has nothing to do with illegal immigration, it's a different topic.

Regarding these drugs, do you think we should legalize Fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, and opioids?  Didn't the Sacklers do enough damage?

Non sequitur.

If the net result here is STFU, you've got my vote, sir.
Too bad your retirement boredom isn't fixed by a hobby; I could suggest photography.
I'd suggest volunteering for a worthy organization but that would fall on (your) deaf ears.  :'(

There's an interesting investigative article from NPR on the BIG LIE promotion tours that have been occurring across the country to spread false election fraud claims.

https://www.npr.org/2022/06/30/Election deniers have taken their fraud theories on tour

Election deniers have taken their fraud theories on tour — to nearly every state

It's worth reading for the look it gives into one of the organized efforts to undermine democracy in the United States. This one passage from the article may seem familiar to participants in this thread...

"There's just so much that is incorrect that they just keep repeating and repeating and repeating," Koppes said. "And then as soon as I have absolutely blocked off that path with actual correct information, then they just move that goal post. And they keep just moving the goal posts. And moving the goal posts."

Between conversations with voters and research on all the separate false claims that have popped up over the past two years, she estimates she's spent thousands of hours dealing with the fallout of Donald Trump's misinformation campaign.

At this point, she says she's had to stop engaging with voters who are unwilling to listen to her.

"Some of these people really, truly believe they're doing the Lord's work," Koppes said. "But I think at the end of the day, they so desperately want to believe what they're being fed, that they're using all means to justify what they're doing."

I haven't heard mention of any reforms of the presidential pardon process.

It's an explicit, unrestricted provision of the federal constitution (Article II, Section 2, Clause 1), modifiable only by a cumbersome amendment process:

Quote
The President . . . shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

Note that the presidential pardon power only extends to federal crimes.  The vast majority of criminal convictions in this country result from prosecutions in the individual states.

Election fraud is significant and would be worse if rules and penalties were reduced.  It;s why states have rules against ballet harvesting etc.  Actually, fraud is more signioficant in local races such as mayor, sheriff, couselperson, etc rather than in nationwide elections when a few votes can make a difference who wins.  So while the argument may be about national elections, the rules have to be enforced to keep the more frequent local elections honest.

Here are fraud cases from my home state of NJ.

Here's the main list where you can pick whatever state you want.

California, a Democrat mainly state, had 15 cases in 2020 to 2022 (to date).
https://www.heritage.org/voterfraud/search?state=CA

Here's a typical case.  Problem is the penalties are nonsense.  No one cares if they get caught.

Louis Wise was involved in a scheme that offered cigarettes and money to homeless people on Skid Row in exchange for fake signatures on ballot initiatives and voter registration forms. This resulted in hundreds of fraudulent signatures. He pleaded no contest to one felony count of subscribing a fictitious name, or the name of another to an initiative petition and registration of a fictitious person. He was sentenced to a suspended sentence of 16 months in state prison and three years of formal probation.

Here's another where the incumbant apparently commited fraud.  Nice to know wwe have honest officials.

June 2021 Compton City Council Race

The results of the June 2021 Compton City Council run-off election were overturned by Judge Michelle Williams Court after it was determined that four votes cast in the election were submitted by registered voters who did not live in the district the council seat represented. A run-off election between incumbent Isaac Galvan and Andre Spicer was decided by one vote and Galvan was declared the winner. Five people including Galvan have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit election fraud. The Superior Court Judge threw out four votes that were found to be cast by voters who did not live in the proper jurisdiction, and Spicer was declared the official winner of the election. All of the individuals charged have already pleaded guilty or no contest to the charges.

These are the usuall cases that we have lawas to prevent.  Demciorats want to get rid of most of them.

Types of Voter Fraud
Fraudulent Use Of Absentee Ballots
Requesting absentee ballots and voting without the knowledge of the actual voter; or obtaining the absentee ballot from a voter and either filling it in directly and forging the voter’s signature or illegally telling the voter who to vote for.

Ineligible Voting
Illegal registration and voting by individuals who are not U.S. citizens, are convicted felons, or are otherwise not eligible to vote.

Impersonation Fraud At The Polls
Voting in the name of other legitimate voters and voters who have died, moved away, or lost their right to vote because they are felons, but remain registered.

Buying Votes
Paying voters to cast either an in-person or absentee ballot for a particular candidate.

Ballot Petition Fraud
Forging the signatures of registered voters on the ballot petitions that must be filed with election officials in some states for a candidate or issue to be listed on the official ballot

Duplicate Voting
Registering in multiple locations and voting in the same election in more than one jurisdiction or state.

False Registrations
Voting under fraudulent voter registrations that either use a phony name and a real or fake address or claim residence in a particular jurisdiction where the registered voter does not actually live and is not entitled to vote.

Altering The Vote Count
Changing the actual vote count either in a precinct or at the central location where votes are counted.

Illegal "Assistance" At The Polls
Forcing or intimidating voters—particularly the elderly, disabled, illiterate, and those for whom English is a second language—to vote for particular candidates while supposedly providing them with “assistance.”

...and frightening. Meanwhile, here at LuLa we are treated to the red herring of the Heritage Foundation's database of election fraud cases every so often. The ironic thing is that when you actually look at the data, which spans decades, it demonstrates just how rarely it occurs. When that's pointed out, the claim that "it's just the tip of the iceberg" is then immediately regurgitated with no supporting evidence because none exists.

It's been discussed to death already, but it will be brought up over and over again as it gets its turn on the never ending merry-go-round of the same talking points and examples. It's a never ending waste recycling program with the waste being time.

First there were 15 cases in California alone in the last two years.  But more significantly, that's with laws against fraud.  Democrats want to do away with most of these rules.  It would be like making bank robbery legal.  In fact, it's why crimes have escalated in other areas as prosecutors have stopped prosecuting certain crimes.  Well, election fraud will become completely common if you do away with the rules criminalizing it.

Part of the BIG LIE effort is to frighten election officials. From the NPR article linked in the previous post...

Clements ends his talk with a request to the people in the audience: Go to the offices of your local officials.

"They respond to fear," he says. "You need to hold these institutions with the contempt they deserve."

The campaign of fear and intimidation is also covered in the Washington Post article which NPR references.

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/www.washingtonpost.com/trump-election-officials-pressure-campaign/2021/12/22

Some of the threats are of nuisance lawsuits and some are threats of violence despite the fraud claims being based on lies...

In Ohio, Frank met for more than two hours in May with the senior staff of Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R), presenting unsubstantiated claims that voting machines are connected to the Internet and have been hacked, according to a recording of the meeting obtained by The Washington Post. Frank warned that he planned to pursue multiple legal actions around the country and said there could be consequences if LaRose’s office did not cooperate.

“I’m warning you that I’ve been going around the country. We’re starting lawsuits everywhere,” Frank said, according to the recording. “And I want you guys to be allies, not opponents. I want to be on your team, and I’m warning you.”...

Even as election officials rebut the growing conspiracy theories, the demands from some of those pushing false claims are escalating — and their rhetoric is becoming more extreme.

On social media, Frank recently began calling for prison or “firing squads” for those found guilty of “treason,” stating in one post that “history will not look kindly on state officials who turned a blind eye to the massive election fraud that took place in 2020.” On Dec. 18, he wrote that Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat who has refused to entertain his claims, should face a jury “capable of dispensing capital punishment.”...

Asked Tuesday about his comments, Frank said that after he and others who share his view about 2020 “win the war,” election officials such as Benson should face trial — adding that federal law calls for traitors to be subject to capital punishment.
