A little too late.  It also seems that one of the people passing phony info about Trump's escapades in a Russian bed was a Clinton ally.  Of course, the whole phony dossier was Clinton's.  The Democratic-controlled and anti-Trump FBI used it to spy on the Trump campaign.  So all the arguments I gave for years about this were true.  The whole impeachment of Trump accusing him of Russian collusion was a political setup to discredit Trump during the campaign and then to undermine his presidency, first by Clinton and then by the whole Democratic party.

Authorities Arrest Analyst Who Contributed to Steele Dossier
Igor Danchenko, a Russia analyst who worked with Christopher Steele, the author of a dossier of rumors and unproven assertions about Donald J. Trump, was indicted as part of the Durham investigation.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/04/us/politics/igor-danchenko-arrested-steele-dossier.html

So… this indictment (not conviction) “proves” all that, yet Roger Stone’s *conviction* for similar accusations means… nothing I guess?   Don’t be silly

Welcome to the new ride. This ride is a little bit like a merry-go-round inside of a merry-go-round.

You might want to skip the corndog and cotton candy before getting on this one. The ride operator's hubris alone makes me nauseous.

An Economist leader this week ...

One year on: The calamity facing Joe Biden and the Democrats

Quote
... If Democrats believe that grubby attempts to win power are beneath them, then they should look at what is happening in the Republican Party. Glenn Youngkin’s election as governor of Virginia suggests that Republicans can win in swing states, even with Mr Trump as head of the party, by being cheerful, Reaganesque culture warriors who know how to throw red meat to the base. In a two-candidate race for the presidency, both nearly always have a real chance of winning. Mr Biden and his party need to think hard about what they are prepared to do to limit the risk of another four years of Mr Trump. Because that is where a failed Biden presidency could well lead.

Stone lied to the FBI. So what?   But that has nothing to do with the Clinton dossier created to discredit Trump.  In the end it created huge problem with getting along with the Russians.

So now they're having naval exercises with the Chinese instead of with us against the Chinese.  Domestic American politics caused this misstep.  It would have been so much better having Russia at China's northern border against them rather than as friendly with them.  When things get tough in the Pacific regarding let's say Taiwan, it would have been helpful to tie up Chinese forces at their Russian border.  Now China won't have to be worried about Russia.  We'll have to be worried about Russia.

What a dumb move on our part. All because Democrats wanted to destroy the Trump presidency.

The difference between Trump and Biden is that Democrats went out of their way to destroy the Trump presidency.  Biden's doing it on his own.

The Tea Party refers back to what happened before the War of Independence in 1776 against the British when American colonists were unhappy with British taxes without representation.  The funny thing is they taxed us less in 1776 than we tax ourselves today.  We'd be better off from a tax standpoint if we were still British citizens.  ;) The fact is taxes and government spending are just too high today.  It's why both parents have to work in most families when one was required a few decades ago.  Inflation and deficit spending has made the rich richer, and the poor poorer.  Government spending is a bad way to allocate investments.  Money is always better off in private hands as governments often misappropriate the money based on political and not economic factors.  These are determined more effectively by a free market and not politicians in Washinton and other capitals.

The US total tax burden is very low (24% of GDP) compared with the average of OECD countries (34%). It is also low compared to the UK (33%). So why exactly is this such a burden and why would we be better off under British taxes?

Why is two parents working a bad thing? And it has nothing to do with taxes but rather with low wages and our consumerist society that puts such a value on owning and spending. Also the desire of many women to have a gratifying career and not sit at home all day.

Money is not always better off in private hands. What a nonsense idea! Gov't is surely wasteful at times, but a lot of tax $$ goes the things that need to be done but that "free market" would have no interest in because there is no profit to be made. For example, health care for the elderly, national parks, keeping poor people from starving, building roads that are free to use. The list goes on.

Not only on this forum, the Americans in general are too grumpy these days.

Quote
But consumers are way gloomier than they should be. Consumer confidence is at the lowest level in years, and by some measures nearly as bad as the early days of the Covid pandemic in April and May of 2020. A recent CNBC poll found that 47% of respondents think the economy is headed for a recession, with just 34% feeling it’s not. This grumpiness may explain why voters thumped Democratic candidates in the recent Virginia and New Jersey governor races, voting down the performance so far of President Biden and his fellow Democrats in Congress.

Shoppers are clearly worried about inflation, with overall prices up 5.4% during the past year. Gas prices are up 42%. Home prices are up 14%, locking out many buyers. Prices are rising faster than wages, overall. Shortages of products such as cars and electronics is contributing to inflation and putting some goods out of reach. It may also remind people of the panic buying and empty shelves that signaled deep trouble after Covid exploded in the spring of 2020.

I thought McConnell was on record several times saying his job was to block the Democrat agenda. Trump OTOH succeeded in blocking himself.

Stone lied to the FBI. So what?

So what??  The premise is that Trump was working with agents of the Russian government.  Stone (and Manafort, and others) have been not only charged, but *convicted* of lying to the FBI with regards to the investigation and of various financial crimes with Russian players.  That apparently means nothing to you.

On the other side of the coin, two guys have been accused - not convicted - of making false statements to the FBI with regard to that original premise and you think it's proof that the premise is false?  Get outta here.  All I ask is a tiny bit of consistency.   ::)

there's a lot of things I want to do for my family but I can't afford it. Likewise the government has a limit also for what it can do. If either of us go into too much debt, then the country or the family will suffer as the debt has to be paid back and there's even less to go around to take care of just bare necessities.

Like me, the government can only do so much.

Blocking the legislative agenda of a president is a lot different than impeaching him.

the FBI I was in cahoots with Clinton Obama and the Democrats to destroy Trump. So Trump defenders lie to the FBI to protect him. That's wrong. But don't discard the original fact that the whole dossier and charges of Russian collusion were a set up against Trump. That's the story that counts.

The voters thumped the Democratic contender for governor McAuliffe in Virginia because he called soccer moms domestic terrorists for wanting to be involved with their children's school curriculum.

In New Jersey, Democrat Governor Murphy was almost rejected because he said that if you're opposed to high taxes, then New Jersey isn't the state for you. That ticked off a lot of New Jerseyans.

There's nothing like hearing an old song again to remind you of why you got tired of hearing it played over and over the first time you heard it.

I don't follow... Clinton, Obama, and the FBI made everything up about Trump campaign entanglements with Russians, and as a result top people in the Trump campaign who have been convicted of Russian entanglements had to lie about things they didn't do but were still convicted of in order to protect Trump, who knew nothing about what his campaign was wasn't doing even though they were convicted of doing those things that they never did?

Surely you jest.

There was no collusion.   Period.  The only person involved with Russians was Hillary Clinton with her phony dossier packed with false information about Trump from Russians.

I'm not sure about Hillary Clinton, but about 20 years ago before starting SpaceX, Elon Musk flew to Russia, more precisely to Kazakstan to look at the Russian rockets. After seeing and examining the equipment, he decided to build his own rockets. During that visit, the only scandalous fluid that could potentially carry some nasty disease was not urin produced by young females, but saliva excreted by one old grumpy rocket designer on Musks's and Cantrell's shoes. He got mad because those rockets were designed as powerful and respectable weapons, not as toys for the western capitalists and then he spit on their shoes. Now the Russia's space program boss keeps calling Musk to visit them again.

I don't understand your slavish obsession with Trump. The twerp was (is) pond scum, can't you find a better politician to latch onto. Is he really the best you guys can do?
