So are many countries in Europe. We keep going over the same points. America bad.  Asia good.

Whataboutism reference to countries in Europe. Logical fallacy.

I'm curious if anyone here has lost their jobs or businesses temporarily or permanently because of government rules?  How are you dealing with it?  What do you intend to do in the future?  How are you paying your bills? I wonder how many people calling for shutdowns are unaffected by them and continue to work?  Maybe if we knew how our employment goes may explain our positions on government rules?

I'm retired with a constant income stream from various pensions and other government sources. My investments have increased in value by 18% so far this year.

It's interesting to note that this year Canadians as a whole have more cash in hand than any time before.

Okay. Provide links to these facts so we may enlighten ourselves.
Here is a link to a video of Trump praising the Gold Standard.
The sound you'll hear after it, is Alan's brain exploding as it should.  ;)
The video (40 seconds in):
https://www.gq.com/video/watch/donald-trump-weighs-in-on-marijuana-hillary-clinton-and-man-buns
The screen capture since Alan may have difficulty playing what Trump ACTUALLY said about the Gold Standard.
Trump says, on the Gold Standard retuning "Boy would it be wonderful"
First off, Trump isn't for the gold standard.
Wrong, wrong, wrong!
I did check the facts and my statements are true.  Yours aren't.
Wrong, wrong, wrong!
Hole; 10 feet deeper.
Why does anyone even listen to this nonsense anymore?  :P

Andrew didn't provide links.  Why should I?
Again, wrong, wrong wrong.
Link and video of Trump in favor of the Gold Standard.
Now he changes his mind so often, lies; go ahead and find us a link or video where he says he isn't in favor of the Gold Standard Alan; get cracking!

More data you can ignore Alan:
What has Trump said about the gold standard?
While it’s perhaps not common knowledge, Trump has long been a fan of gold. In fact, as Sean Williams of the Motley Fool points out, Trump has been interested in gold since at least the 1970s, when private ownership of gold bullion became legal again. He reportedly invested in gold aggressively at that time, buying the precious metal at about US$185 and selling it between US$780 and US$790.

Since then, Trump has specifically praised the gold standard. In an oft-quoted 2015 GQ interview that covers topics from marijuana to man buns, Trump said, “Bringing back the gold standard would be very hard to do, but boy, would it be wonderful. We’d have a standard on which to base our money.” In a separate interview from the same year, he said, “We used to have a very, very solid country because it was based on a gold standard.”

That quote was in 2015 before he became president. Everyone's in favor of a solid monetary gold standard until they become a politician.  Then they need the Fed to print money to pay for the debt they create with free stuff they give to their voters.  Trump's deficit, before Covid, was close to a trillion dollars.  He reduced taxes but didn't reduce spending.  The only way to pay for that is with printing and a gold standard stops that.  So while he may say he's for sound money, he doesn't act like it. He's winking at the whole idea.

I said "who cares" to compare Obama's inauguration of 12 and 8 years ago to Trump's inauguration 4 years ago? I have no idea why that question was even asked?
It sounds like baiting or trolling to me.
It is brought up to illustrate REAL trolling of which you will of course ignore, one of the first set of trollish lies from TrumpWorld (URL for you bud):

Trump's inauguration crowd: Sean Spicer's claims versus the evidence
This article is more than 3 years old
White House press secretary’s angry declaration that the media faked low attendance does not stack up against photos, videos and public transport figures

And I suspect you still have no idea why. Sorry but your posting just provides more and more evidence that connecting the factual dots are difficult for you.
Some of us ARE trying to assist you in the reality but it largely falls on deaf ears. And so, all we can do is show newer people here, you're not really to be taken too seriously. There is a solution to that burden but you keep typing. Glutton for punishment.  :'(

You are desperate. The date doesn't matter a lick. I told you he was in favor of the Gold Standard then provided him actually saying so.
You say it's untrue and can't provide any URL video or evidence he is no longer in favor of the Gold Standard. Despite who he nominated.

The rubbish again of speaking for everyone, without any proof or data. You just don't get it, do you?

Facts you'll also ignore inside your alternative fact reality; he reduced the taxes for a lot of the rich, increased his deficit bigly  ;) in doing so.
Why don't you limit embarrassing yourself further, stop typing here and go find us any proof of your (presumably made up facts) posted here:
I did check the facts and my statements are true.  Yours aren't.
So my facts are a "fake" video provided along with other actual quotes of Trumps and yours are? Zero, zip, nada. Again Alan, get cracking.

Why do people on the left have this insatiable need to shut up people whose opinions they disagree with?  From silencing corporations, speakers at colleges, advertisers, cable host speakers, Facebook, Twitter, and even here in a photo forum.  They say they're for free speech and open debate.  But their actions don't reflect it.  Now I see why the polls were so wrong.  People are really afraid to give their opinions.  They don't want to be attacked.

You seem to think that freedom of speech means we have to accept as true everything you post. Freedom of speech means that we have the freedom to disagree with you. So stop complaining. The whining never stops. I had to stop myself from making a sweeping generalization that all right wing people, especially Trump supporters, have this insatiable need to whine all the time just like Trump. I'll refrain from doing that. There are probably a few that don't.

Why do people on the left have this insatiable need to shut up people whose opinions they disagree with?
Because their opinions are rubbish from empty heads.
Why do people who are immune to facts, data and believe in fiction have this insatiable need to publish their rubbish, "thinking" (not too throughly), that what they post will be believed or taken seriously when they show repeated misinformation and hypocrisy. I suppose it was a lack of attention as children and they need attention now as 'adults'?
Of course, no idea why you ask others questions who's answers, often factual, you will ignore.
“If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.”
― Quentin Tarantino, Pulp Fiction
A nice way of saying, deep in your massive hole, "think" about STFU....

Whatever.
The absurd is the last refuge of a pundit without an argument.
Now I see why the polls were so wrong.
That's largely wrong too, a generalization and of course, an opinion provided without any data to support it. Hole even deeper.

Anybody remember old Mick Mulvany? He was one of Trump's many chiefs of staff. He exited just before COVID arrived, apparently because he didn't kiss Trump's ass with enough gusto. Now Trump's got Mark Meadows, who is rarely seen or heard from, to everyone's great relief. So old Mick Mulvaney has expressed the earth shattering notion that perhaps instead of relying on Rudy "hand down his pants" Giuliani, Trump ought to get some real election lawyers, you know, guys who know what they're doing, and not some washed up old man who gives press conferences in the parking lots of landscaping companies, waving his hands in the air and claiming he doesn't know whether the ballots came from Mars. No need to read the link; it is just there for style points.

I don't know if any of you follow golf. If you don't, you can skip to the next post. For those that do, you probably know that Bryson DeChambeau got all bulked up during the lock down, and now can drive the ball 400 yards using his mega-driver with 48" shaft. Well, he has won a couple of tournaments, including the U.S. Open, which is no small feat, and was the odds on favorite to win the Masters last weekend. Instead he flamed out, and has now thrown his caddy under the bus. Here is his take on it:

"At the beginning of the week, I felt like I could have a great chance to win the tournament if I just played my game," DeChambeau said. "Shoot, I made enough birdies this week and eagles to have a chance to win. There's no doubt about that. I made way too many mistakes that I've got to talk about with my caddie and go, 'Hey, how do we not make these mistakes anymore, how can we work better as a team to have that not happen?'"

Notice "I" made birdies and eagles, but "we" made mistakes. What a putz. Kind of reminds me of Trump.

Everyone's in favor of a solid monetary gold standard until they become a politician.

What?

You, Alan, are literally the only person I've heard suggest returning to the gold standard in the last 40 years. I realize I may have missed some references to it somewhere, I don't read everything, but I'm having doubts about your use of "Everyone".

So you may remember that Trump lost Wisconsin by around 20,000 votes because of massive voter fraud, rigging, conspiracies, and all the rest, and now he wants a recount. The thing is that a recount was going to cost him 7.9 million dollars, and he is a little short of change because Rudy Giuliani is charging him $20,000/day to go around waving his hands. So what does Trump do? Well, like everything else, Trump is going for a half-ass recount, just the two largest counties for a cool 3.0 million dollars. Chances of winning on a recount: zero.
