I like your double exposure - nice technique with pleasing sort of diffusion.

Homesick? Moi? Not really. Spain has been my home for thirty-six years, a longer period than I've lived anywhere else. The Q.A.Lace stuff grows/grew right here in the ex-farm across the hedge. Yes, I am hoping to sell this place at some stage and return to the UK, but that's not driven by homesickness but by all maner of fiscal considerations. Had I no kids, I wouldn't give it a thought other than to how I might fare if the Brexit mess deprives me of health insurance out here.

I am trying hard to convince myself that there are advanages for me to returning, but it's a struggle and adventure in self-deception, as every call back there to anyone reminds me: they think I must be crazy to think of going back having made an escape! On the other hand, maybe they just rather have me a few thousand klicks away.

Flowers? I never enjoyed gardening. My wife sort of did, as did my mother, too, filling large gardens fore and aft her house until she got too old for it all and had to spend money paying gardeners to keep it all going. Which of course, was never as artistically done as she'd managed to do it.

You just can't replace love with paid hours.

Rob one must garden for pleasure, because I have tried it, and it is a lot of work.

Here is one, same plant in winter, with a subtle treatment.

It's a natural subject and I will say no more.

Wow, John!
I've run out of things to say about your abstracts. Beautiful, natural or not.

As usual a number of engaging shots on this thread.  I haven't contributed for a quite a while so here are 4 with somewhat different flavors.

It's the first one that works for me, the right mix of complexity and repetition. Although like the doors posted earlier, that's probably just a question regarding my psychology :)

Very different from what I've come to expect from you, Chuck. But very fine!

Yes Chuck, a nice set. The first and last are quite mysterious.

Of course not Graham: squashed butterfly, obviously!

A little fluttering of the wings before destructions, and we'd have had an original Ernst Haas!

Looks both like the remains of a muffin and a flower. Excellent!

White chocolate and blueberry muffin?
Close.
Looks both like the remains of a muffin and a flower. Excellent!

JR
But no flower. Just the remains of a blueberry muffin on a red napkin.
I guess I should have given it a John R-type blur treatment. My abstracts are getting too easy to decode.

So congratulations to GrahamBy and John R for deciphering it so quickly. The next time you are both in Boston at the same time, I'll happily stand you both to a beer.

Sorry, Rob. Better luck next time.

You have a good eye for graphics, John. Even without color.

This is an amazing place and should be visited if you are near Naples.

And that's an amazing photograph! But hey, what else did you expect from Italy?

Well seen.
