For myself, I think that I increasingly find abstract paintings appealing. Why? Simply because they allow one to see something different almost all the time: they don't bore one, as would looking at the Mona Lisa ten times a day.

bloviating old fart
Time for less talk (from me) and more images. I may have shown one of them before.
It may be a myth for people with little experience with dykes, but it is getting older all the time. The wall is certainly at war with flatness. It's my favorite.Bruce
This is going to be a dangerous post that may upset many; so, if you're easily upsettable, read no further.Eric, the first one reminds me of the little Dutch boy who saved everybody by sticking his finger into a dyke.Robhttp://www.pantheon.org/articles/l/little_dutch_boy.html
Eric the third image looks familiar. One of your early posts? I really like the last image and the tinges of blue throughout.JR
Thanks, John. The third one I may well have shown before, but probably in B&W if I did.The last one is a window air conditioner that I saw walking in New York a couple of years ago.Eric
It's Queen Anne's Lace, a member of the wild carrot family.Although a weed, some people do grow it in the garden. In July the crown does look lovely and has a fringe of pink.JR
Thanks John - noted that down now!Does it have an edible root, or is the carrot connection too vague? However, that's probably going to be academic now, as the entire field has become a fresh forest of pines and wild oak. The maquis part is so thick it is pretty much impassable now, and I doubt much can grow through that cover.Rob C
