This is an amazing place and should be visited if you are near Naples.

Superb!  Reminds me of Klimt.

Nearly a meter of snow fell in 24 hrs here recently.  Then, freezing rain.
While plowing my driveway, I had to get off the tractor to shoot this with my phone.

Agree this is great.  The shadows really frame it nicely.

Too complex to be abstract?

Nice one, Patricia.

But I'm happy not to share the temperatures! Having a year or two ago discovered myself to have become a victim of the dreaded Raynaud (I used to think of him as chilblains), doing the shopping with plastic bags becomes a painful experience in winter... an old neighbour of mine has had the condition since she was eighteen, poor wench. The things people tell one.

Next time I feel it coming on I must check the thermometer in the hall: I could well be owner of a built-in trigger mechanism that could double as a handy body thermometer of my own. You see? Always the positive guy, looking for the bright side in everything! Just like my snaps.

;-)

Very nice.
I agree.

I understand that parts of Maine have had amost eight feet of snow. Probably somewhat lesser amounts on the coast where Pat does her magic.
We only have a couple of feet of the white stuff here near Boston, and tomorrow is supposed to get above 50 F.

Not at all, Matt; my brain contains more veins and lukewarm pasta, and yet it's pretty abstract at best.

One thing I really like about these recent posts is that folks are willing to stretch the boundaries of "abstract."\

Trees, tugboats, snow and ice: All good material for creative seeing.

Not sure I like your vignette treatment of the borders, but the sprawling branches are wonderful and abstract enough for me. When I first saw these images I immediately started mentally creating my own crops. Not because I like it better another way, it's the way I work in the field when I encounter such wonderfully abstract subjects with so many possibilities.

Saw Grass Morning

Lovely. The two horizontal arcs add so much. Well seen.

Thanks John. The white vignette borders were a bit of a 'let's see how this looks'  experiment. The branches I find immensely interesting and so much potential - just a matter of finding the most effective way of presenting them.

ENERGY: Two thoughts came to mind with this image. First, was that the energy needed to create this scene (enormous pressure, erosion from waves, rain and wind) was being reflected in the rocks themselves. I was also reminded of Aboriginal philosophy, in which existence consists of energy. All things are animate, imbued with spirit, and in constant motion. The picture was taken on Gaff Point, a unique, unspoiled promontory on the south coast of Nova Scotia. The Gaff Point trail takes one through conifer forests, across heaths and grasslands, beside high cliffs and along a spectacular rocky coastline. It is here, among those rocks, that I have found some of the most beautiful samples of form, texture, pattern, and colour.
