It works nicely and doesn't matter what it is. Wonderful play of light, shadow, tones and shapes. But as Churly said, it is quite intriguing and we cannot help trying to imagine what it really is. You hit the sweet spot of mixing abstract with reality. What Is that damn thing!

I am usually drawn to Colour and only secondarily think of Black and White. Someone suggested I convert this image to bw, and I have to admit, the shapes and their interaction becomes more the focus.

It's a teapot upside down on a drain board, lit by direct sunlight.

Been getting into a lot of water abstracts... this one from Acadia National Park a couple years ago.
