Oregon rivers are running unusually low and clear this winter.
From this afternoon.

A touch warmer than what I would have expected (I was thinking up to 40 for a mountain river in late winter). I did go barefeet through rivers that were below 40 in the winter many times when I was younger and let's say I'm not looking to repeat the experience.

In a normal winter you would be right, The middle McKenzie River usually gets down to about 36-38 degrees in February, and then starts warming gradually to about 58 in late summer. But this winter in Oregon has been the warmest that I remember. Nevertheless, even at 46 degrees your bare toes would go numb very quickly.

This is really an impressionist photo made to look more abstract because despite enjoying those snow dunes, I really am looking forward to Spring!

John, I'm very fond of this impressionist image and the similar one you posted on March 1. They are good examples showing that impressive impressionism thrives within photographs, not just in paintings.  ;D

Lynn's photo certainly made me think. Nice way to compose these elements. What is HP5+ ?

HP5+ is (or was) an Ilford B&W film with an ISO speed of 400 I believe.

I haven't posted new images for a while, so here are a couple. These are from a new series I'm working on which I'm thinking of calling "Salt of the Earth." They are all patterns of road salt on pavement. There has been a lot of that this winter in the Northeast U.S.
