Despite the dyspepsia received from Miss Pepsi, I still feel inclined to post a recent work by Rembrandt, which perhaps explains to us the two main things listed below.

A certain indication of age-related meltdown is noticeable when:

a. one still washes them, but never irons T-shirts;
b. observing the devastation in the personal Dorian Gray is an adventure no longer carefully shielded from the public.

There is fight yet in olde Dorian. His masts are formed as the longbows of Agincourt, ready to persuade the French.  ;)

"Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say "These wounds I had on Crispin's day."
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day."

This would be so cool, but my memory has gone walkies when most required for quick consultations on red hot topics such as: why the eff have I come into the kitchen just now?

A kind friend, older than I, puts it down to nothing more frightening than simple (?) senior moments. I can live with that.

Nothing to be concerned about.  After considerable reflection (and consulting GPT-5 for AI confirmation of my hypothesis), I have determined that this phenomenon occurs when profound ruminations push out lesser ones.

Thank you, Doctor K; that’s exactly the kind of consultation result I like to hear!

When public property has a problem, you can bet it's personal private money has to pay for the solution.

Ode in a wineshop, translation courtesy of Google. Banal in context but worth noting - especially with the brush of your camera, Rob.

"Keep these treasures carefully, where the sighs of the wind and the embraces of the sun paint dreams on each bunch of grapes.
Each sip is a poem of passion and flavor, an ode to Mediterranean pleasure that awakens on your palate.
Let's toast to the beauty of this land, to the passion that drives us and to the joy of sharing this place with you."

Thank you, Chris; marketing bs at its sweetest and, probably, justification for a good time.

Were it not for a dislike of drinking alone once a day (I can only handle lunch - eating later brings on acid reflux and the threat of self-suffocation in my sleep - what irony that would be), I would most enjoy sitting on the verandah at around half-past eleven on a sunny morn, nursing a soothing G&T with a little fried goat’s cheese enhancing a Jacob’s cracker or two. As things stand, even a glass of wine now hits my head almost directly, and driving the car would be quite irresponsible. How I miss both wife and youthfulness. Oh well, it was a wonderful life, and nothing can take away what was.

Regarding the snaps: without a cellphone, hardly any new pics would exist on my hard drive. I keep readying both self, Nikon, lens and battery for some photography “tomorrow” but, come the dawning, it all seems like way too much trouble…

A gifted Q with 27mm might throw the psychological switch, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I suppose that then, I just be nervous about getting mugged again. ;-)

Just noticed a strong resemblance with jagged parts of that snap and the famous “Man with the golden Arm” poster. Wish I’d seen it at the time. ;-(

Thank you!

I’d briefly contemplated spotting the file, thought hey, it’s supposed to be D’chrome, life in the rough; the hell with touching it up that way.

Love it!

Thanks, Keith. I think I’ve definitely decided to hang on to the 13 Mini iPhone when the ordered 17 Pro finally arrives. The sensible reason being, that in case of theft of the new one, at least I won’t end up paying for two phones and only have one. I’ll try not to repeat the mistake I made with the Nikons, when I eventually left the D700 at home, for “special” shooting that never came, and did everything on the old D200 instead. If I had used the new camera more, its jammed mirror fault might have happened when still under warrantee, or at least while Nikon still supplied parts for it. Live and learn.
