The Spanish newspapers are telling the sad tale of their big hotel chains pulling out of Cuba. So much investment being turned into loss, so many islander hopes of a better, more dignified life going down the tubes along with that hotelier cash.

You have to ask yourself why this is happening to that little island; Russian rockets are a threat dealt with years ago. Whilst I can see a reason for that face-off of decades go, we live in a different world. If Russia wants to nuke the US, it can do it from Russia. It can do it from beneath the sea. I suppose it can even do it from NK, if it really wants to do it. Would it beyond technology for innocent-looking container ships moored in US docks to be weapon delivery systems you’d never spot until they blew your head apart and melted your watch?

It’s not really even a case of the low-hanging fruit: it’s a blatant case of bullying. Period. That's all such an ugly look.

I know a few Cuban expats who live here in Mallorca. They seem free to come and go as suits them.

Insofar as their politics, who gave the US the divine right to interfere? If Cuba was threatening the US, then self-protection would be a legitimate cause for meddling, but the meddling today is gratuitous.

Perhaps the humanitarian consciousness that gives Cuba its medical expertise could be an object lesson to some far wealthier states. How absurd to ban the importation of Cuban cigars whilst at the same time having the greatest drug problem in the world. I’m no advocate of smoking, but the pure spite such treatment displays towards a minnow is staggering.

As with in the rest of the “rich” world, why does the solution for drug problems always appear to be an automatic reaction against those poor third-world countries that manufacture the stuff, and not a better housekeeping exercise at home? Remove the market and those poor devils making drugs would just be poor devils without drug cartels biting their asses. Never gonna happen; too many very rich westerners rolling in dollars, their greatest worries being where and how to launder that vast stash of loot they have carved from the domestic idiot who’s their customer. That said, the way crypto currency is being touted and fostered makes you wonder why it’s supposedly so hard to trace those importing and selling misery and death… none so blind, etc.

Please, if you truly want to do what’s right by your audience and by your business, STOP asking ridiculously inept and inarticulate social media questions in a cheap bid to get the easy answer in order to up your numbers and make it look like you’re the king or queen of engagement.

Sounds like a quote from someone who doesn't know the difference between Pee-wee Herman and his imaginary communist “Pinky Herman". Guess he didn't get his multiple naps before speaking, and the regular uber spyonpants here now think this fellow is worth quoting.

Well, the difficulty starts, as it would, right at the beginning: the definition of what Communism may actually be.

Many so-called Communist states are not: they are simply dictatorships of various kinds, but that isn’t allowed to stand: an easy, all-encompassing word saves so much time and mental effort, don’t you think, and permits the observer simple, negative nomenclature manipulation, understood by the uncritical audience to signify - and be enjoyed - the sense of a hated other.

This, of course, is no praise for Communism, which is indeed destined for ultimate failure wherever it has been tried, because it forgets, overlooks, one vitally important thing: people are not equal. Every society has within it winners and losers because that’s the price of being an individual. It isn’t even something based solely on early opportunity in life: you find winners and losers within the very same family.

Naturally, none of us should forget that the measure of winning and losing is deeply personal, too: beyond some basic degree of creature comforts, we do not all share the same desires or needs.

Trump took to Truth Social Monday to direct Senate Majority Leader John Thune to keep the chamber in session in order to pass a “full and deep throated SAVE AMERICA ACT.”
In his attempt to use an emphasized version of the term “full-throated,” Trump veered into an unintentional sexual innuendo (or possible Watergate reference).

President Trump continues to prove he is "an innovator in the field of corruption," said Jonathan V. Last. Reports surfaced last week that the Trump-owned social media platform, Truth Social, will begin selling subscriptions for "faster access to his posts." The subscriptions cost $100,000 per month, and they are being marketed to large trading firms. Truth Social is "a crappy, buggy service" that "hemorrhages money." But Trump has made the company valuable by making it the exclusive platform for his posts. He has recognized that the president and he have vast power to manipulate markets and can monetize this in numerous ways. One is by buying and selling stocks of companies impacted by his policies. Another is selling access to what he's going to say. Imagine if you had early access to Trump's April 9, 2025, post pausing global tariffs. How valuable would that have been? Well, "if you bought Apple's stock that morning and sold it that afternoon, you'd have made a 15.3% profit." Which is why banks, funds, and every finance operation would gladly pay for early access to his feed. In fact, if you don't, "you become the dumb money." It's why Trump "is like Thomas Edison, Ray Kroc, and Henry Ford all rolled into one. But for government corruption."
