From the prospectus filed yesterday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commision by Digital World Acquisition Corp., the "Special Purpose Acquisition Company" that is proposing to fund the Trump Media & Technology Group [TMGT]:

Quote
A number of companies that were associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy. There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also become bankrupt.

Entities associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy protection. The Trump Taj Mahal, which was built and owned by President Trump, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1991. The Trump Plaza, the Trump Castle, and the Plaza Hotel, all owned by President Trump at the time, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1992. THCR, which was founded by President Trump in 1995, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2004. Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc., the new name given to Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts after its 2004 bankruptcy, declared bankruptcy in 2009. While all of the foregoing were in different businesses than TMTG, there can be no guarantee that TMTG’s performance will exceed the performance of those entities.

A number of companies that had license agreements with President Trump have failed. There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also fail.

Trump Shuttle, Inc., launched by President Trump in 1989, defaulted on its loans in 1990 and ceased to exist by 1992. Trump University, founded by President Trump in 2005, ceased operations in 2011 amid lawsuits and investigations regarding the company’s business practices. Trump Vodka, a brand of vodka produced by Drinks Americas under license from the Trump Organization, was introduced in 2005 and discontinued in 2011. Trump Mortgage, LLC, a financial services company founded by President Trump in 2006, ceased operations in 2007. GoTrump.com, a travel site founded by President Trump in 2006, ceased operations in 2007. Trump Steaks, a brand of steak and other meats founded by President Trump in 2007, discontinued sales two months after its launch. While all these businesses were in different industries than TMTG, there can be no guarantee that TMTG’s performance will exceed the performance of these entities.

Yes, Fox News is open-minded enough to let Leslie spout her nonsense.
Ah, now this is the real nonsense that is also deadly:

Tucker Carlson — who is currently enjoying his reign as both Imperial Wizard and Grand Dragon over the Fox News klavern — figures prominently in an NPR article published today.

I highly recommend the article to those who are interested in a better understanding of how racism is packaged and sold. For those that believe that racism is something relegated to the past, you can continue to ignore this type of information and return your head to the sand or wherever your preferred safe space for it may be located.

How the 'replacement' theory went mainstream on the political right

From the prospectus filed yesterday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commision by Digital World Acquisition Corp., the "Special Purpose Acquisition Company" that is proposing to fund the Trump Media & Technology Group [TMGT]:

A little additional information on the CEO Digital World Acquisition Corp. is below. His previous "Special Purpose Acquisition Company" in Wuhan, China failed to get off the ground and was recently liquidated.

• SPAC Yunhong International Co. (NASDAQ:ZGYH), who's CEO is also behind the Trump media SPAC Digital World Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ:DWAC), plans to dissolve and liquidate.

• SPAC Yunhong International (ZGYH), which is run by Patrick Orlando, will dissolve after it was unable to consummate a deal within the required timeframe, according to a 8-K filing.

• Wuhan, China-based Yunhong (ZGYH) went public in 2019 with a stated goal of looking to acquire a consumer/lifestyle business in Asia, later amended to exclude China.

• Orlando's dealings with Trump have come under scrutiny in the wake of a New York Times article last month that claimed there might be potential violations of securities laws in regard to the DWAC SPAC. Earlier this week Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) sent a letter to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler yesterday requesting that the agency investigate the transaction.

If you're not up-to-date on your COVID vaccination boosters, you may want to get it soon. Retrumplicans in Congress are blocking funding and vaccine rationing is a distinct possibility.

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/13/white-house-vaccines-covid-funding-impasse

White House prepares to ration vaccines as Covid funding impasse looms

Politico - May 13, 2022 (Excerpts Below)

Just two months after the administration unveiled a nearly 100-page roadmap out of the crisis, doubts are growing about Congress’ willingness to fund the nation’s fight. It has forced Biden officials to debate deep cuts to their Covid operation and game out ways to keep the federal effort afloat on a month-by-month basis.

Among the sacrifices being weighed are limiting access to its next generation of vaccines to only the highest-risk Americans — a rationing that would have been unthinkable just a year ago, when the White House touted the development and widespread availability of vaccines as the clearest way out of the pandemic.

The contingency planning is aimed at preserving the bare-minimum tools needed to protect against the virus this year, federal officials and others familiar with the discussions said. But many of those decisions still hinge on Congress authorizing $10 billion in new Covid spending, a prospect that remains uncertain in the face of GOP opposition.

Senate Republicans have stalled the funding request for weeks over demands they first get an unrelated vote on President Joe Biden’s decision to end Covid-era border restrictions. Despite Biden administration warnings the U.S. could record 100 million more infections through the fall and winter, some GOP lawmakers are also separately skeptical that there’s an urgent need for more money, accusing the administration of failing to account for the hundreds of billions of dollars it has already spent.

But at worst, the people said, the richest country in the world could find itself out of money to combat a Covid resurgence on its own soil.

“All that needs to happen is to have a variant emerge that’s highly infectious and causes more morbidity and mortality and we’re back to ground zero,” said Georges Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, which represents public health workers. “We have not finished the job.”

Donald Trump’s New Business Partners Just Published A Damning List Of All His Failures

Of Trump’s lengthy history of bankruptcies, it states:

Entities associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy protection. The Trump Taj Mahal, which was built and owned by President Trump, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1991. The Trump Plaza, the Trump Castle, and the Plaza Hotel, all owned by President Trump at the time, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1992. While all of the foregoing were in different businesses than TMTG, there can be no guarantee that TMTG’s performance will exceed the performance of those entities.

Of failed license agreements with Trump, it notes:

Trump Shuttle, Inc., launched by President Trump in 1989, defaulted on its loans in 1990 and ceased to exist by 1992. Trump University, founded by President Trump in 2005, ceased operations in 2011 amid lawsuits and investigations regarding the company’s business practices. In the midst of a full-blown crisis for parents who need formula to feed their children, more than 90% of House Republicans decided on Wednesday that the shortage that has led to panic and despair is not actually that big a deal, with 192 (out of 208) GOP lawmakers voting against an emergency spending bill meant to address the terrifying situation. Sorry, babies! Them’s the breaks.

No, I didn't read all 68 pages from that link.  ;D
The URL to the article I provided, much shorter had this to say as well:

Quote
The filing also details the “numerous lawsuits and other matters that could damage his reputation, cause him to be distracted from the business or could force him to resign from TMTG’s board of directors.”
They range from the congressional investigation into Trump’s role in the incitement of the deadly U.S. Capitol riot and his alleged removal of classified documents to a defamation lawsuit from writer E. Jean Carroll, who has accused Trump of rape.
“The foregoing does not purport to be an exhaustive list,” the document warned.

I was simply referring to what was below your link being duplicative. Nothing else. No worries. Just didn't know if you'd noticed.

Thanks again.

A discussion about GOP political behaviour on and after the Jan 6th "troubles" from NPR's Fresh Air https://www.npr.org/2022/05/03/1096119675/how-gop-leaders-briefly-turned-against-trump-after-jan-6 .

Astonishing that Biden privately warns Mc Connell to beware of the crazies "out there”. And McCarthy's behaviour is less than ideal, isn't it.

Also, here's a discussion about some internecine strife among white evangelicals https://www.npr.org/2022/05/18/1099860467/political-discord-in-the-white-evangelical-church also from a recent Fresh Air podcast. Apparently, some pastors aren't MAGA enough. The continued personality worship of Trump can only be described as a cult, so far as I'm concerned. Makes no rational sense. Something is seriously ill in the culture.

Will Fox (and friends) be talking about this fraud?
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2022-election/5-gop-candidates-blocked-michigan-governors-primary-false-signatures-rcna30673
Quote
Five Republican candidates for governor in Michigan — including top-tier contenders James Craig and Perry Johnson — failed to qualify for the August primary Thursday after the Board of State Canvassers rejected their nominating petitions because of alleged rampant signature fraud.

The bipartisan panel, made up of two Democrats and two Republicans, deadlocked 2-2 along party lines in accepting recommendations by the state Elections Bureau to disqualify all five. A majority was required to keep a candidate on the ballot.

State officials charged with reviewing the nominating petitions this week declared thousands of signatures submitted by the candidates to be forgeries submitted by fraudulent petition circulators. Their findings, which the board considered Thursday, left the five candidates short of the 15,000 valid signatures required to qualify for the ballot.

Just too funny (and true and sad as well):
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/marjorie-taylor-greene-peach-tree_n_62942a78e4b05cfc269c22b1

Quote
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is warning supporters that the government is planning to monitor their eating habits and “zap” them until they eat fake meat grown in a “peach tree dish.”
The extremist lawmaker who once warned the world of “gazpacho police” now claims the feds are planning to track bowel movements, too.
You have to accept the fact that the government totally wants to provide surveillance on every part of your life,” Greene said in a rant from her podcast clipped and posted online by Patriot Takes, a right-wing watchdog group.
They want to know when you’re eating,” the conspiracy theorist added. “They want to know if you’re eating a cheeseburger, which is very bad because Bill Gates wants you to eat his fake meat that grows in a peach tree dish.”
And if you’re not eating “peach tree dish” meat, the government ― of which she is a part ― will find a way to “zap” you into compliance.
“You’ll probably get a little zap inside your body and that’s saying ‘No, no. Don’t eat a real cheeseburger, you need to eat the fake burger, the fake meat, from Bill Gates,’” Greene said.

What an utter moron.

That's several standard deviations away from anything resembling political debate, even über-partisan political debate. It will be interesting to see if she's re-elected when the time comes. I don't know when her term runs out.

Does voting for her mean you are an utter whackadoodle or is it a way of saying that you're an anarchist that doesn't believe in government anyway so let's make it irrelevant by electing insane people? Is that where things are at now? Did your "founding fathers" see this coming?

Related to this bizarreness, I saw a couple of youtube clips of politicians calling either for arming teachers or single-door design in schools to prevent entry by gun-toting nut bars. I couldn't watch that crap either, my time would be better spent picking my nose. It reminded of an old article from the National Lampoon magazine where some talking head on TV, saying some nonsense or other that was current at the time, begins to slow their speech and falls forward revealing a giant key in their back that someone forgot to crank. The difference is that this seems to be real.

Episode 7 (and I think last episode) of season 3 of Michael Lewis's podcast Against the Rules, titled The Person Who Knows, is an illuminating partial debrief of what went wrong in the early days of the USA's Covid response. It's about 50 min long. There will probably be many attempts to analyze the Covid years, and there should be as we're supposed to learn from mistakes. There are good interviews with people in the know and why we listen or do not listen to the right people when we need to. That has been the general theme of season three.
