You can't pass on what you can't get.  Fausi didn't claim anything about vaccinated people passing it on.   Fauci's argument that I listened to during the senate hearing was his concern was to protect against other variants.  Fauci did not object to Paul's contention that there is no evidence that people who have been vaccinated can get it or pass it on.  I fact, there's no evidence that people who have been vaccinated can get any of the variants.

Frankly, this may be the CDC trying to get everyone to wear the mask fearing if they say some people can take it off would only encourage others who have not been vaccinated to not wear them.  Just the opposite of what they did, in the beginning, telling us masks are only required for medical people because the supply of them was low.  Also, Fauci is a politician and Biden likes the mask for political reasons.  So he's kissing Biden's ass as he kissed Trump's.  The Senator raised the point that telling vaccinated people they don;t need the mask any longer would encourage more people to get vaccinated.

The vaccine doesn't prevent you from getting the disease - haven't you understood that? It stops you from getting sick if you get the disease. It may reduce the chance of you passing it on, it may not. It's not 100% effective against the current variant and it will probably be less so against future variants.  I'm still wondering what delusion may be giving you the idea that anyone wants people to wear masks if there is no need for them - it is just mind-bogglingly stupid.

The Senator didn't argue that no one should wear a mask.  His point was that the mask does not protect people who have had been vaccinated because they can't get because they have been vaccinated.  That was the whole point of the vaccine for the individual. There is no evidence that people who have been vaccinated can get it or pass it on. His point that the rule requiring wearing masks for vaccinated people is not required.

Me?  I still wear the mask when I'm around others as does my wife.  I don't believe the senator or Fauci so I play it safe.

Maybe in Kleinville.

On December 18, a San Diego emergency room nurse was given a shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. A week later, he tested positive for the virus, CNN affiliate KGTV reported.

Stories like this will become more common as millions of Americans are administered the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines over the coming months. Over time, many who are vaccinated will still get infected with the novel coronavirus.

During trials, the vaccines were shown to be about 95% effective — which means some vaccinated people were still infected.

A person is not considered vaccinated until they receive both shots and the required two-week incubation period has passed after the second shot. The story you quoted does not meet that requirement.  For all, we know the nurse was already infected when he got the vaccination. Nor does your statement indicate whether it was his first or second shot. You have to do better than that.

So I got my first haircut in one year.  Feel a lot lighter.  He raised his price 20% since the last time.  Who says there's no inflation?  His barbershop had three barbers including himself.  He used to have at least four plus a cashier.  No cashier now.  He says he is doing OK and has been open since last June! This is what restaurants will have to do.  Since they can only have a portion of their space for patrons, they'll have to lay off people and raise prices.

Meanwhile, in America, our weekly first-time unemployment went up again when everyone expected it to go down, from around 725,000 to 770,000. Three-quarters of a million new unemployed when they expected it to go down.  Normal before the pandemic was around just over 200,000 per week, less than a third.  What's going on in Canada, Europe, and elsewhere?  Is employment as bad as here?

45,000 or if not more chose rather free money than going to work. From my observation, situation in Canada is similar. In my neigbourhood there were two barbershops. One closed last spring and the other raised their prices. I assume same situation in the restaurant sector.

The senator stated there's no evidence people vaccinated can get the disease.  Period.  Fauci did not object to the senator's statement. He did not disagree,  His only counter was that there are variants that we have to protect against.  Fauci had the opportunity to concur with your point,  But he didn't. So he agreed with the senator.

I did my best - disputing your point about no evidence for re-infection. Read the whole article, not only the first paragraph.

No vaccine is 100% effective, and the makers of coronavirus vaccines are still evaluating whether the shots protect against all infections, or just those that cause symptoms.

The CDC estimates that 40% of coronavirus infections don't cause symptoms, and the trials of both the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines looked only at whether the vaccines prevented symptomatic infections.

Moderna said in December it had submitted data to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration showing its vaccine prevented 2/3 of all infections, including asymptomatic infections. For now, the CDC recommends that people not assume they are completely immune to infection after having been vaccinated.

That's another problem, I agree. We're paying people to stay home and not work.  Stupidity.  How will that help the economy? We're looking into traveling.  Everyone is wanting to travel.  Prices are going to skyrocket.  With no cruise boats, planefare and hotels will also escalate their prices.  20% more for a haircut is one thing.  But imagine having to pay 20% more for an expensive trip to another country with hotels, airfare, restaurants, etc.

You missed the whole discussion.  We're not talking about your article.  We're talking about Fauci's sworn testimony before the Senate.  He had a chance to make his mask argument known and dispute the senator's claims.  He didn't dispute them directly nor in accordance with your article.  His only argument for the mask for people who were vaccinated was the need to reduce the spread of variants. Now, that may be a good enough reason.  But putting words into his mouth that he didn't say does not support the article's or your contention.  Your stating things he didn't say.

I didn't missed the point, I wasn't commenting on Fauci at all. All I said was related to re-infection after getting the vaccine.

Arguing about what Rand Paul or Dr. Fauci said or didn't say is pointless. Different people will draw different conclusions depending on their levels of cognition, aural and reading comprehension, reasoning abilities, and memory retention, not to mention experiential and political biases.  Read or watch the testimony for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

So he (Trump) is not the 19th president now? 😝
Trump will be lucky if he's not in jail in 8 years.
We’ll see.

I read your article. There is nothing in it that states the virus did not or could not have started in the Wuhan lab.  All it said was that it was probably moving around for a couple of months in the Hubei province where Wuhan is located earlier than the first case was discovered in Wuhan.  All that means is that the release from the lab could have occurred earlier than the first case that was discovered. That doesn't change the probability the disease was released from the Wuhan lab, deliberately or by accident.

The issue is that the CDC and experts are not only not consistent, they appear to be playing with the full truth.  If you're a believer in the mask no matter what, then it doesn't matter.  But if you suspect that someone is trying to pick your pocket, it is imperative that the experts tell the full truth and not play games.  Once they go down that path, they lose a big portion of the public.  That's not the public's fault but rather the experts gaming the whole thing. They lose credibility and people will ignore them.
