This not going to go over well with the progressives.  Checked Facebook and my brother is already on this like a fly on shit.

Biden also nominated a Secretary of Education who reopened schools in Connecticut despite strong opposition from the teachers union there. So far, the predictions of Biden being pushed around by progressives or the teachers unions in dictating his appointments or policies don't appear to be holding up well.

It was? What? Do they speak English in "What" "or Irac"?  :D

I was going to post a retort to this non-sensical statement, but James Downey says it better!

Yes, get it passed in this congress?   ;D ;D ;D

That's kind of what I thought when you suggested Biden should have sought out support from Republicans on the minimum wage provision.

If the government didn't licence doctors for that purpose, then there would be private associations created that would inform the public as to proper credentials.

You mean like the associations that rate physicians in various specialties as best in the US in those airline magazines?  Or maybe Yelp? Maybe there is an association that rates associations. Or you could go with U.S. News and World Report. I think you said that's how you picked the hospital for your heart surgery.

My wife got her second vaccine today. She showed me the five page, single spaced informed consent form they gave her, along with a two page privacy notice, so she could decide whether she really wanted to get the vaccine while she was sitting in line in her car. So I set aside an hour this afternoon to read it since I have an appointment to get my first vaccine next week. It was pretty straightforward until I got to the list of vaccine ingredients and saw that it contained 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine. I wasn't familiar with 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine so I looked it up on the NIH website. You can read all about it here:

https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/1_2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine

Well, I'll be the first to admit that I haven't taken chemistry since high school, and I don't remember if we studied1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, but just looking at the information from the NIH, I don't think that anyone other than someone with a PhD in chemistry specializing in epidemiological research could possibly give informed consent. So if Dr. Fauci says it's okay, I guess I am just going to go with that. If you have any doubts, you may want to shoot Trump an email.

Don't tell me my posts are wrong.  They're right.

Quote
But Yossarian knew he was right, because, as he explained to Clevinger, to the best of his knowledge he had never been wrong.

―Joseph Heller, Catch-22

You have a good sense of humor, although I think you tend to miss the unintended irony in your own posts.  If you haven't read Joe Heller's Catch-22, now would be a good opportunity.

(As I have said before, I enjoy reading your political screeds, however infrequently I agree with them, and I certainly would encourage you to continue posting.  I need to do something to occupy my time until I can be vaccinated.)

Honestly though, I am more interested in other things at the moment, like it is suddenly okay to bomb other countries again.  Who would have thought, right?
Yep, the world is sort of shaking its head again.

But, as far as wars go, less Americans died in WW1 and WW2 combined than will probably die with Covid, so a welcome distraction.

Again, you just can't make this nonsense up:

More than a dozen Republicans tell House they can't attend votes due to 'public health emergency.' They're slated to be at CPAC.
More than a dozen of former President Donald Trump's closest Republican allies in the House have skipped Friday's votes and enlisted their colleagues to vote on their behalf, signing letters saying they can't attend "due to the ongoing public health emergency."

But those members are actually expected to be in Orlando and listed as speakers at the Conservative Political Action Conference, an annual meeting aimed at energizing conservative activists and boosting their own profiles.

Further on:
The move is especially surprising given that Republicans were furious critics of the system to vote by proxy during the coronavirus pandemic, even suing over it and often ridiculing Democrats for staying at home and demanding they return to Washington.

What are you ganging up on me?  Coward!  :)

Don't worry. My message board didn't light up. No one is ganging up on you. What you see is what you get.

Your point is that it's a bad idea to take what others write out of context and present them as agreeing with your position. You posited that twisting other's words to fit your point of view is generally unhelpful to a discussion. You and I agree that my statement was meaningful to improving discussion and understanding each others point of view. Isn't that ironic?

I don't have any idea how that relates to my post. Perhaps you could explain.

By right, I mean my posts are correct from the standpoint of how I debate. THat's me and you debate the way you do. For you, your way is correct.  It's like arguing about the way a person shoots his camera.  Who cares?  The question is the final photo.  Critique that, not his shooting method.  If you disagree with my facts, fine, debate those not the way I present them.  Otherwise, you're just being lazy and showing you have no good answers to my points.  You're criticizing me, just a personal attack.

It's never a good comparison.  Comparing someone age 80 even age 20 who dies of a disease to a young person who dies in combat is not the same thing.  Otherwise why make an issue or care about 9-11, the Oklahoma bombing, or the marine barracks that got blown up or for that matter George Floyd?

I think the problem is I'm more imaginative than you guys and have a better sense of humor.  You guys must bite on a lemon when you get up.  Lighten up a little.  There's a lot here to laugh at.

Well for once we agree. There are no good comparisons of 500,000 people dead.

They should also outlaw calls from sitting president to storm the White House.
