Actually, SUNY tuition is around $8,500, but the university website estimates that total costs (you gotta eat) at a SUNY campus will be about $21,000, slightly higher than my midwestern school now estimates.

https://www.suny.edu/media/suny/content-assets/documents/financial-aid/suny_financial_aid.pdf

Grammar question. Would it be "a SUNY campus" (Soonee) or "an SUNY campus" (S-U-N-Y)?
Soonee.  My daughter went to SUNY Albany upstate.  Lots of snow.  If you want sunny, you have to go to a Florida college.

It's been around twenty years since she went.  I don't recall the cost back then. But I looked it up.  From 1998 to 2019, 21 years, in-state resident tuition went from $4338 to $10,026.  That's an increase of 131% or an average of 6% annually.

Regular CPI  inflation during that period went up 57% or an average of 2.7% annually.  I say student loans helped cause the higher percentage.

He encouraged his supporters to protest at the capital, perfectly legal.  He didn't tell them to invade it.  They got carried away and should be punished for any laws they violated.

Isn't that what Hitler did?

By comparison, I checked Princeton, a private ivy league university here in NJ. I could only find it for the last ten years. Tuition and fees went up 42% or 4.2% per year, less than the State University of NY over 21 years mentioned in my last post, but more than the Consumer Price Index inflation rate of around 3% average.

Tuition & Fees Changes
The tuition & fees has increased 41.57% for last 10 years where the 2020 tuition & fees are $51,870. The undergraduate tuition & fees has raised from $36,640 (2010) to $52,800 (2020). The graduate school tuition & fees has raised from $38,090 (year 2010) to $53,770 (year 2020). Next table and chart show the changes of tuition & fees at Princeton University over last 10 years.

No.  Hitler burned the Reichstag down to the ground if I recall my history.  Trump didn't do anything and his supporters burned nothing.  I think you're confusing them with BLM protestors and gangs last summer who caused $2 billion in damage from looting and arson.

Good point and a very valid comparison. At least it would be if the US seat of government was Al’s Electrical Outlet in downtown Portland. However ....

You can safely ignore all of the above. As I pointed out a couple of days ago, Princeton awards grant in aid to its financially needy students so they graduate with little or no debt. The reason they can do that is that they have an endowment of approximately $26 billion when last I looked derived from alumni donations and the investment thereof. Many top universities do the same. This is not where the problem lies.

He encouraged his supporters to protest at the capital, perfectly legal.  He didn't tell them to invade it.  They got carried away and should be punished for any laws they violated.

Trump deserves impeachment and disqualification from ever holding any federal office for his actions, taken while in office, over the course of months leading to the insurrection at the Capitol. Impeachment is not an indictment for a criminal charge. Whether his conduct was illegal is an entirely separate and immaterial consideration. He violated his oath of office and his duty and responsibilities to the country in ways that are neither forgettable or forgivable.

You're focusing on specific instructions to invade the Capitol which is completely irrelevant. The House articles of impeachment do NOT charge that Trump instructed the mob of domestic terrorists to invade the Capitol. You're confusing instruction with incitement. Trump's responsibility for fomenting and inciting the insurrection that occurred is clear due to his persistent repetition of a lie, over months, that a failure to be re-elected could only occur if the election was stolen by massive widespread fraud. He told citizens that democracy and the Constitution were under assault and being taken away from them and they must act and fight to protect and preserve the nation. By doing so, he provided the fuel, ignition, and direction of a fire of fear, without any concern over the manner or intensity with which it would burn and which consequently led to the assault on the Capitol and terrorizing of the legislators inside.

The perpetrators of the violent acts of domestic terrorism and insurrection should pay the legal price for their actions. Trump should pay the political price of impeachment and disqualification from holding any future federal office for his actions.

There is some debate among historians about that.

Won't the Democrats look silly if they have an impeachment trial and the judge refuses to come?  The Chief Justice only sits for impeachment of a president.  Well, Trump is no longer president.  So the President of the Senate, or the VP, sits for all other impeachments.  That could be a conflict of interest because Harris may run as president in 2024 against, well, Donald Trump.  Plus, the constitution prevents congress from trying civilians, which Trump now is.  It's called a Bill of Attainder and goes back to the British parliament who used to sentence people to death without a civil trial.  That's unconstitutional in America.

I suspect, the Chief Justice will sit though.  He's afraid the Democrats might pack the court and doesn't want to give them an excuse.

Who can preside over the Senate trial of former President Trump?

You are just repeating the argument of Alan Dershowitz, Trump’s lawyer. He may be right or he may be wrong. I suspect the House managers will have a differing opinion which should be considered before reaching a conclusion. You know, listen to both sides before deciding.

McConnell seems to disagree with you, as do others.

I think everyone who doesn't need Trump's base (Hawley, Cruz, Rubio) would disagree with him.

I think Republicans would be scared of pissing off Trump and that's probably most of them.  If you're running for re-election in two or four years, would you want Trump to come down to your state and campaign for another republican in the primary to replace you?  Better to let sleeping dogs lie.  Vote not guilty and move on.

That's exactly how Trump got out of control...the coward republicans had no guts and just let the sleeping dog lie and in turn the dog ran out of control.

Why? Adversaries were afraid to mess with him.   It kept us out of wars for four years.

There are two issues on the table that may be conflating as well.  One is opening up second doses for the first dose.  The second related issue is opening up age group 65-74 to include people from 16-64 who have certain medical issues.  It's too complicated for regular people to sort out, especially seniors.  All we know is at the last moment, the government changed the protocol in two different ways without discussion or public comment.  That wasn't right.  I have loads of friends who can't get their first shot because of it who are in anguish.  They are at wit's end not knowing what to do and scared sh!tless for being left out in the cold not being able to get the shot. That's Biden's fault.

Not true:

Right! The Europeans were repulsed by him, Kim Jong Un played him by sending him love letters, Putin complimented him for all his kowtowing and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's retaliatory strike on the US military base outside Baghdad inflicted much more damage than Trump ever admitted.

But probably not 5 years...
Biden will keep the US out of a war with Iran...
