Third party candidate in the 2016 election, and secret agent Jill Stein did.  Now what was she really up too?

Stein said the soiree was “a great opportunity to lay out some of my foreign policy proposals and get Russian reactions to them.” Flynn, who commanded a $45,000 fee to speak at the event, said he didn’t ask to be seated next to Putin. “I found it a great learning opportunity,” he told the Washington Post.

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/05/flynn-putin-dinner-payment-security-clearance-photo/

From the article you linked to and quoted:

"According to Cummings’ letter, Flynn told security investigators that “I didn’t take any money from Russia” in connection with the event. Yet Cummings wrote that his committee has documents showing how the $45,000 payment was transferred from RT to Flynn’s lobbying firm, as well as an email in which an RT official states, “We will be covering the payment of General Flynn’s fee.”"

"Flynn downplayed his dinner with Putin during his security check, telling investigators that during his foreign trips he “had only unsubstantial contact with foreign nationals.” Cummings wrote, “It is difficult to understand how General Flynn could have believed that his dinner with Russian President Vladimir Putin was an ‘insubstantial contact.'”

Seems like Flynn has a problem with telling the truth.

And if you want us to leave the poor guy alone, why do you keep posting about him?

You're changing the subject. You brought up old democratic accusations that were part of a smear campaign.

No. I'm posting a current event involving Michael Flynn and commenting on the background to it.

You accused him of colluding with the Russians,

No. I didn't. I said that he promoted Russian propaganda for Putin thru his work for RT, one of Putins propaganda machines, and was paid to do so. Which he did.

violating emoluments laws, and other illegal stuff, none of which he was charged with or found guilty of.

No. I said that he was paid to work as a foreign agent on behalf of Turkey without disclosing that fact or registering as such as required by law. He admitted to that when he registered as a foreign agent after he had completed his contract for that work. I also said that he pled guilty to lying to the FBI. He did. Anything else that I posted were quotes from an article in Wikipedia to satisfy a request from someone in denial... much like yourself.

So now, ignoring my defense of your false charges,

I've been ignoring the completely false myth you believe regarding the national security investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and any connections to Trump campaign officials or advisers because much or all of what you've posted about it is completely divorced from any reality and false. Believe what you like, but I'm not wasting time on such nonsense. First because it's nonsense and second because no amount of factual presentation would have any noticeable effect on your mythical beliefs. I'll continue to ignore your Russian hoax twaddle for the reasons just stated.

you now accuse him of exercising his right of free speech.

I accused him of exercising his right of free speech? I posted a link to his free speech—bizarre and dangerous as it may be.

How many years do you think he should get?

That would be up to a judge.

(Bold mine)

Nancy Pelosi has a technical term for that: "wrap-up smear."

Not only is the "wrap-up smear" in the first paper that reported it and the cable news channel.  It gets picked up and repeated by all papers and news channels throughout the world and gets reported back here on LuLa as well as the truth. Then we all argue about the terrible things Trump did, after all it was reported in all the news.  It must be true.  After all,  everyone's saying it. Posters do the same thing here.

(Bold mine)

Nancy Pelosi has a technical term for that: "wrap-up smear."

Quote
“We call it the ‘wrap-up smear.’ You smear somebody, with falsehoods and all the rest, and then you merchandise it,” Pelosi said at a press conference last year. “And then you write it, and then they’ll say ‘See? It’s reported in the press that this, this, this and this,’ so they have that validation that the press reported the smear, and then it’s called the ‘wrap-up smear.’ Now I’m going to merchandise the press’s report on the smear that we made.”

DEBUNKING FALSE STORIES

Taking Pelosi Out of Context

Q: Did Nancy Pelosi describe how the Democrats use a tactic called the “wrap-up smear” to attack political opponents?

A: No. Pelosi was describing a tactic that she anticipated Republicans would use against her in 2018. Her remarks were taken out of context in a viral video.

"A clip of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi explaining a political tactic called a “wrap-up smear” has been widely circulated recently. The problem is, it has been taken out of context.

"The nearly 40-second clip was taken from the end of a press briefing Pelosi gave in June 2017, although it was taken from a section that lasts about eight minutes. Pelosi had responded to a question about what strategies she planned to use to counter negative ads aimed at her during the 2018 election cycle. In her answer to a follow-up question, she explained one of the tactics she expected to encounter from Republicans — the “wrap-up smear.”

"The California Democrat said Republicans will attack her in TV ads as a way to distract voters from the issues."

"Pelosi, June 22, 2017: Republicans are afraid of that contrast in a race because they are going to go there to be involved in trickle‑down economics, shutting down hospitals, and the rest of it.  So they don’t want them to see that contrast.  So they focus on something else.

And it’s a diversionary tactic. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. You demonize and then you — we call it the wrap-up smear. If you want to talk politics. We call it the wrap-up smear. You smear somebody with falsehoods and all the rest and then you merchandise it. And then you write it [Pelosi gestures at reporters] and they’ll say, “see it’s reported in the press that this, this, this, and this,” so they have that validation that the press reported the smear. And then it’s called the wrap-up smear — now I’m going to merchandise the press’s report on the smear that we made."
"

"It’s that last part that was taken out of context. The clip leaves out what Pelosi said about how Republicans would rather “focus on something else” other than the issues."

"On Oct. 6, a link to the short clip was posted on 8chan, an internet message board popular with conspiracy theorists. It was posted by someone using the name “Q,” a reference to people who subscribe to conspiracy theories based on the idea that an anonymous government official uses the pseudonym “Q” to disclose insider information about “deep state” plots to foil the Trump administration. Underneath the link, the post said, “‘Wrap-Up Smear’ deployed v. Justice K? The More You Know… .”

"Then partisan YouTube channels began posting the clip, and suggested that it was related to the recent battle over the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh."

"By Oct. 8, the clip had made its way to Lou Dobbs’ show on Fox Business. Dobbs played the clip, introducing it this way: “A resurfaced video of Nancy Pelosi from more than a year ago has inadvertently exposed, in the minds of many, the radical Dems’ plan and strategy to try to destroy Justice Kavanaugh.”

"The next day, Turning Point USA, the young conservative group, had turned the clip into a meme that says across the top: “PELOSI EXPLAINS THE LEFT’S ANTI-KAVANAUGH STRATEGY.” It has been shared more than 52,000 times on Facebook."

"Other Facebook users have also spread the clip with misleading information attached. One user’s post has been shared more than 12,000 times with this description: “Pelosi is so demented… She just incriminated her Democrat party tactics, explaining how they falsely accuse their political opponents with slanderous allegations & globalist media reports it as fact to establish credibility. Show this to every Liberal Democrat who still thinks Justice Brett Kavanaugh is guilty.”

"But Pelosi was talking about tactics that she claimed Republicans, not Democrats, use against their opponents."

Seems like Kayleigh McEnany, Trump's press secretary, needs to make up some new lies about her affidavits on massive voter fraud. She has worn out the ones she has been peddling. The judges aren't buying them, yet she keeps telling them on Hannity. I wonder where she is going to land after January 20th?

So let's see.  Half the country says one thing and the other half is saying the opposite.  Who's lying?  Well, half of the country.  Blaming the president for lying all the time is just bias. Sure he does some of the time.  He also uses rhetoric and hyperbole which are interpreted as lies by the biased press, wordsmiths who know better.  To think that other politicians are telling the truth.  That Trump inventing political lies is rather hard to believe.  Every time Congressman Adam Schiff opens his mouth a chill goes up my spine. Well, there's no point going down the list. Who knows who else didn't have sex with that person.

I am a little sad that the election is over and you have moved on. I remember the good old days when you would rationalize everything Trump did or said. I am going to miss all the entertainment. What? You're not done yet? Really? There's more? You're just warming up?

It is highly unlikely that Trump will shut up about Georgia. Has he ever shut up about anything? Trump doesn't care in the slightest if the Senate goes to the Democrats. That's somebody else's problem.

But what abut when people smear themselves. There's some talk that Trump would like to pardon his kids and wife (I think it included his wife). By wanting them pardoned, isn't he implying that they did something they need to be pardoned for?

When the President pardons people, does he need to spell out what they're being pardoned for?

If it's like waving a magic wand or issuing a blanket "Get out of Jail" card, isn't that kind of anti-democratic?

Christopher Krebs—former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency—opinion article in the Washington Post

Trump fired me for saying this, but I’ll say it again: The election wasn’t rigged

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/christopher-krebs-trump-election-wasnt-hacked/2020/12/01/

On Nov. 17, I was dismissed as director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, a Senate-confirmed post, in a tweet from President Trump after my team and other election security experts rebutted claims of hacking in the 2020 election. On Monday, a lawyer for the president’s campaign plainly stated that I should be executed. I am not going to be intimidated by these threats from telling the truth to the American people.

Three years ago, I left a comfortable private-sector job to join, in the spirit of public service, the Department of Homeland Security. At the time, the national security community was reeling from the fallout of the brazen Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. I wanted to help.

Across the nation’s security agencies, there was universal acknowledgment that such foreign election interference could not be allowed to happen again. The mission was clear: Defend democracy and protect U.S. elections from threats foreign and domestic.

With the advantage of time to prepare for the 2020 election, we got to work. My team at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, or CISA, had primary responsibility for working with state and local election officials and the private sector to secure their election infrastructure — including the machines, equipment and systems supporting elections — from hacking. (Other agencies handle fraud or other criminal election-related activity.) The Russian assault in 2016 had not included hacking voting machines, but we couldn’t be sure that Moscow or some other bad actor wouldn’t try it in 2020.

States are constitutionally responsible for conducting the nation’s elections. At CISA, we were there to help them do it securely. Our first job was to improve CISA’s relationships with state and local officials, building trust where there was none. We also worked closely with representatives from across the election-security community, public and private, in groups called coordinating councils. A key development was the establishment of the Elections Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center to share security-related information with people who can act on it for defensive purposes. By the 2018 midterm elections, all 50 states and thousands of jurisdictions had joined the center...

...The 2020 election was the most secure in U.S. history. This success should be celebrated by all Americans, not undermined in the service of a profoundly un-American goal.

Taking Pelosi Out of Context

Q: Did Nancy Pelosi describe how the Democrats use a tactic called the “wrap-up smear” to attack political opponents?...

Oh, please, man! You are smarter than that.

You and I both know how to google. And how the role of "fact-checkers" is to spin the story for those they are ideologically close to.

Where did I claim that "Pelosi described how the DEMOCRATS use a tactic called the wrap-up smear"?

Do you really believe it is only Republicans who use such a tactic? It is a general political tool that both parties use. I just find it ironic that Nancy decided to describe it, as if her side never uses it.
