You may be blissfully unaware of it, but you're ridiculous in your tunnel vision of what actually occurred. If a riot happens with arson, looting, and violence; but the arsonists all wore helmets and masks and the police were unable to identify and charge any of the arsonists, then with your logic [?]... no arson ever occurred because no one was charged with it. Everything just disappears into the land of make believe without any individuals having charges of a specific statute. Absurd.

You keep up the minimizing defense of the insurrectionists and domestic terrorists that laid siege to the Capitol.

Or as you prefer to describe a siege of the Capitol...

trespassing and breaking into the building

Trespassing and breaking into "the building"? It sounds more like someone picking the lock to your garage in an attempt to take your lawnmower.

I had occasion to view this short video again for yucks. It probably belongs in the humour thread but it's also on point here as well, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vamXzkQJLiQ. Ex-Senator Franken examines other examples of "normal tourist visits", like the Jan 6th one. The video is very short, about 4 min long.
Your video gave me the incentive to search out some stuff on my own. Here's a picture one of the Prime conspirators who tried to overthrow the government of the United States. Let's keep our eyes out for him.

Your absurd minimizing, excuses, blame shifting, and misdirection are in a word... nuts. I'm moving on. You can keep making a fool of yourself, but I'm off this merry-go-round.

I'm sorry,  but if the government can't charge one person at of 500 people with insurrection, then it is not an insurrection. It may be a riot, trespassing, assault, Etc. Those often happen when people demonstrating turn into a mob.   Just like the BLM demonstrations and riots.

The Democrats are making it more that it was. All for political reasons to maintain power.

Trespassing in the Capitol? under command of Trump to " fight like hell to save the nation form the stolen election"
Shouting "This is our house'; "the election is stolen" , claiming they are the true Americans and want to save "the American way of life" wanting to kill the vice president and Pelosi for doing their democratic duty...
Just saw an interesting documentary about the storming of the Capitol with many interviews with participants from both sides and mostly filmed by the police and rioters.
The police acted very restrained, without pulling their guns. It is because of this sense only few people lost their life. The only thing that stopped the rioters was the message from Trump to go home after three hours of occupation. Trump was watching television during those three hours before he acted. The man should be behind bars forever for trying a coup.

I couldn't find [in your DOJ link] where anyone was charged with insurrection which Democrats keep calling it.  Maybe I missed it.

From an earlier link:

Quote
First, it's important to understand that—separate from criticisms DOJ has received from lay members of the public—the criticism Garland has received from attorneys and legal analysts like me *isn't* that he hasn't charged any high-level coup plotters yet. That's not the issue.

Attorneys, legal analysts, and criminal investigators know that the federal criminal justice system moves much slower than state criminal justice systems—and the more complex and historic the case, the *slower* it moves. This was always a given in the January 6 investigation.

By the same token, attorneys, legal analysts, and criminal investigators always expected that DOJ would follow its usual policies of (a) not commenting publicly on ongoing investigations, and (b) using cooperation deals with lower-level defendants to try to get at bigger ones.

But what attorneys, legal analysts, and criminal investigators *also* know is that it's *impossible* to hide a large-scale federal probes completely. There are subpoenas, raids, document demands, court filings, interrogations, and more that are hard—or even impossible—to hide.

Some of these investigatory events can't be hidden because they happen at least marginally in public (e.g., filings, raids and contested subpoenas). But it's also impossible to hide a large-scale federal probe because of (a) leaks, and (b) voluntary disclosures from witnesses.

Rich, powerful, well-connected Trumpists in particular are infamous for howling into the nearest microphone the second they are treated as any other suspect, witness, or defendant in America would be treated. Indeed their cowardice and hypocrisy have long been defining traits.

So while AG Garland pretended in his speech that the substantive criticism DOJ is facing comes from people angry that Trump and his January 6 co-conspirators haven't been charged with anything yet, he knows that this is *not* the criticism coming from those in the legal field.

Instead, the criticism DOJ is facing that matters most—criticism that comes from those who understand how criminal investigations and prosecutions work—is that there is *no evidence whatsoever* that DOJ is conducting *any* large-scale investigation of high-level coup plotters.

No court filings from DOJ to this effect. No cooperation deals. No raids. No subpoenas. No document demands. No device seizures. No interrogations. No howling from powerful Trumpists that they are being "targeted" simply for being... seditious insurrectionists.

As always,

You're right.  They should have acted like in Kazakhstan.  No government should have to put up with that nonsense. Well, Trump would have had to shoot his own people.  On the other hand, since the Capitol Police report to Congress, not the president, maybe Speaker Nancy Pelosi should have given the order. "FIRE".

(Oh, by the way, they did pull their guns and killed an unarmed white woman.  The black policeman who did it got a pass, unlike the white policewoman who was charged and found guilty of shooting a violent perpetrator with her gun mistaken it for her taser.  There seem to be two systems of justice in America. )

Where does it say someone was convicted or even charged with insurrection? Please bold it.  All the hundreds of people already charged and/or convicted were for other offenses.  The article said one guy got 8 months for obstruction of Congress, a fair term.   But not the twenty years hyperbole Tech posted about.

Let's face it.  It's all politics as usual.  The Republicans are downplaying it and the Democrats are playing it up to make it seem worse than it is to distract the public from inflation, Afghanistan, the border, Covid tests, and high gasoline prices.

From what I read, the killed woman wasn't someone you would want to meet alone in a dark alley.

You're mistaken. There should have been a public review of her being shot by the police.  Instead, it was secretly reviewed and buried for political reasons by the Democrat administration to show no mistakes on their part.  Can you imagine if she was black and the officer was white instead of the reverse? There would have been a storm of protest for the killing of an unarmed black woman. Instead, the whole world forgot about her.

It's coming, Alan.  Despite your protestations, top level convictions are coming.

"All politics as usual". Right. Do you even care what's happening to your country? Does your "sense of humour" stop you from seeing what's happening? Or is the higher price of hot dogs and lack of cream cheese more important than democracy?

Alan you are a poster boy for all that's going wrong in America these last five years.  THAT is the reason we attack you.

You and your kind deserve to be called out for the evil that you represent.  To do otherwise is to be derelict in our duty to defend truth, justice and honesty.
