They were quicker to help with covid-19 than the government.

Completely ridiculous.

What does it mean when POTUS admits that his presidency is on the line? New snap election? VP taking over? One of the previous presidents taking over?
Quote
Another day of busted deadlines, political malpractice and drained presidential authority on Capitol Hill ended with Joe Biden's one-two-punch on infrastructure and social spending stalled yet again. Even after Biden said his presidency was on the line and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi warned lawmakers not to "embarrass" him as he left on a big foreign trip, progressives still refused to back a bipartisan infrastructure bill they are using as leverage to secure the best possible terms in a watered down but still huge social spending plan.

Admits? I take it as pressure being applied to Progressive Democrats to reach a deal on his proposals. Saying his presidency is on the line refers to the success or failure of his priorities as president and as leader of the Democratic Party and reminding them that their success is tied to his own. That's what I think it means.

What do you think it means, and more importantly what is your reasoning?

I have no problem with the IRS catching tax cheats and the rich paying taxes. The question is how much taxes should they pay and where should they be taxed from?

Regarding the difference between your family and the federal government, you can't go into debt for 29 trillion dollars. So that much of your statement is true. This year currently US federal tax revenue is around 4 trillion and spending is almost 7 trillion. That means that the federal budget is short almost 3 trillion dollars which has to be made up from borrowing but mainly from printing. Of course you can't print. Printing causes inflation and higher prices and a diminishing of your paycheck and savings.

The US has over 700 military bases around the globe and I bet some of them are on prime real estate. You could probably make some good coin selling a few, say 60 or 70 of them, without compromising your security too much. I mean 700, there has to be some boondoggle going on there, don't you think?

Since your billionaires are so efficient and productive, maybe you could turn over some of the security to them, save some bucks, and they could do that in lieu of paying those awful taxes.

I posed the question because I didn't know what Biden meant when he said that his presidency is on the line.
That wording came directly from the quoted CNN article. I don't know if these were Biden's exact words or a creative interpretation by the CNN reporter.

Yes. Personal insults against other forum members.  Presidents are open game.

Then why didn't you answer my question about tax rates back when America was great?
Google ‘USA 1950 tax rates’, and you get
https://taxfoundation.org/historical-income-tax-rates-brackets/

Extensive research ? A modicum of research is the perfect antidote to YOUR persistent misinformation and ‘seat-of-the-pants’ BS.

Edit:
An excellent resource regarding taxation, both national and international, individual and corporate. Recommended.

It is not just US federal income taxes that you have to compare. Taxes today include very high state and local municipality taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, school taxes, gas taxes, etc.  These are higher than ever before.  Some never existed in years past.

Also, another big tax that has gone up that affects the poor and regular workers the most because they can't avoid it, is Social Security and Medicare taxes.  These are equal to 7.65% of their paycheck. It used to be 3% or 2 1/2 times less. Also, that is matched by the employer.  So those funds (a total of 15.3%) are not available to the employee either in net income, totally separate from the income taxes the employee pays to the US federal or state governments.  There are a few states that don't have state income taxes like Florida and Texas.  That accounts for a big movement of people to those states especially from high tax states like NY where I used to live, NJ (where I now live), and California.

I think we can turn them over to Trump.  He isn't doing anything now anyway.  Just imagine: Trump Air Force Base and Golf Center, Trump Naval Air Station and Resort, etc.  Let him run them and send 20% of the profits to Uncle Sam.

Do non-Americans see Biden as a stronger, more effective or weaker president ?

CNN: Joe Biden faces a more skeptical global audience at his first G20 as President.

When it comes to his treatment of Elon Musk and Tesla, then Biden looks biased, petty, and vindictive. Or controlled by unions.

Others are certain that it's the Illuminati, the Masons, the Pope, Pedophile Satan Worshipers, Corporations, Progressive Commies, the Deep State, Evil Scientists, and Alien Lizard People. There's something for everyone and fun for the whole family!

Then again, he could just have developed his own set of beliefs over a lifetime and is acting on those. But, where's the fun in that?

it probably is the unions and or Ford and General Motors. But it's hard to feel sorry for the richest man in the world worth 300 billion.

It's no secret that Biden loves his (original owner) '67 Corvette. He even raced Colin Powell, who was driving his own 2015 Corvette, on Jay Leno's Garage. Maybe they were part of a secret Corvette Cabal.

It might not to be tactful, mentioning racing, Powell and Biden in the same sentence.

Interesting that those words also seem to describe some members of the Tesla Super Fans League and Elon Musk Worship Society, when they take to social media to attack anyone with the audacity to voice any kind of criticism whatsoever of Tesla or Elon Musk.

Yes, most probably he developed his own set of beliefs. But he still could have shown more considration and fairness in the two recent big events:

The first one when Biden Administration had snubbed Tesla at the electric vehicle summit at the White House in August — inviting Ford, General Motors, Stellantis and UAW, but not Tesla. They didn't even mentioned Tesla but praised GM and Ford for leading the EV revolution.  :o

Also, Biden never congratulated Musk and his SpaceX company, SpaceX for the ISS astronauts flights, nor for the recent 3 days high orbit mission with 4 passengers performing scientific tests on board and raising 200 million for St. Jude Children's Research Centre. These flights are much greater and more meaningful accomplishments than the recent Blue Origin 11 minutes quick jump into suborbit.

Also, Biden never congratulated Musk

Beware ye of a jealous god who requires regular worship and demands that praise be swiftly offered for his deeds from only the highest pinnacles. The offerings brought forth by subordinates (like NASA) will never suffice in quenching the thirst of a deity.
