Dismantling the WHO in the middle of a global pandemic. He's out of his mind.

Ahhh yes, the WHO is just so important after it screwed up multiple times either due to incompetence or being nefarious.  Not to mention they completely ignored Taiwan's much more reliable information just due to geopolitical issues.

Yes, they are so needed right now.

Out of all the people I talk to, right and left, only a hand full of people on here dont think WHO needs to have major changes made.

A lot of people here have a high school civics textbook view of how the country works. The federal government really doesn't have much in the way of limits except in very narrow areas, despite what some people would like to think. Why? Because it collects so much in taxes, and distributes that money to the states through the political machine. All those conservative Republican states who pride themselves on holding down taxes are at the same time collecting tens of billions of dollars from the federal government every year -- more than $700 billion annually -- and would fall on their asses if they didn't get it. That's called a lever. Start talking about how this or that state might not have met all the requirements for highway funding (and what state really could, given the complexity of the requirements?) and the governor will get the hint. So, in my opinion, if Trump was a little smarter, he *could* probably order the states to open up when he wanted them to, and actually get it done. Unfortunately for him, this is the kind of work done by the bureaucrats in the Deep State, and he wouldn't know how to ask them to do this, because he's a fuckin' moron, and he's already alienated most of them.

So, I think the governors are going to go their own way, and suggest that Trump not let the door hit him the ass on thee way out.

Why? Can't Trump just let the 30 day guidelines expire, call the hospital ships back to port, and have the army disassemble the field hospitals? I'm not sure what else he has to do. Oh, take delivery of the ventilators from GM-Vantec sometime next month. What is he going to do without a daily "press conference?"
The Federal government is providing up to $6 trillion dollars to get the country back on its feet.  That is Federal money.  My money.  It doesn't belong to the states.  Should Trump send a box of cash to each governor and let them distribute it to their cronies as they see fit?  If the states want to control money to their companies and residents, let the states spend their own money.

Additionally, the federal government controls interstate commerce, the banking system, the Fed, and other central government powers.  The states have no control of these things.  It requires the president as the nation's chief executive to make decisions and implement assistance from these entities.  For example, in the area of interstate commerce, what if a pork processing plant in Idaho decides to open it's plants next week to ship its product to the east coast.  Meanwhile, Illinois has their rails shutdown for two more weeks.  Well, the meat will get stuck spoiling in Idaho until Illinois opens its rails.  This problem requires coordination of the Federal government as part of interstate commerce.  Multiply that by thousands of things and you can see why each state can't decide on it's own.  There has to be a master plan of sorts.

Of course the federal government doesn;t have to get involved with opening some local park for Little League baseball games. That's something local authorities could handle.  Actually, it's pretty much the way we currently handle things in America as a Federal Republic.

The point is it's a coordinated effort where benchmarks have to be met together in many areas and not so much in a lot of other areas.

WHO was in bed with the Chinese and failed to do their job.

The Fed has supplied all PPE that the states need.  In fact there's more than they need.  The Fed made up for the responsibility the states had to provide PPE.

Are you for real? You cannot be that clueless.

WHO was in bed with the Chinese and failed to do their job.

You guys are so gullible that would be funny if I didn't think about the consequences. WHO made few early mistakes but went back on track way before Trump even contemplated doing something. To blame it on WHO his lack of actions is so ridiculous that I don't think anybody sane would believe it, except his base who will accept whatever he says.

Keep on hoping things dont turn south for your Dems.

By the way, I think I should let you know, a lot more people will be voting in November then just Democratic Governors, and leader of your party isn't exactly coherent right now.  The man  cant even read off of a teleprompter with out messing up ... multiple times.

It was a sad day in politics when the person giving the endorsement (Bernie) was more excited then the person receiving it (Biden).

They have a Facebook page: Michiganders against excessive quarantine. Crazies are everywhere, it's just easier these days to notice them.

And yet, every week the models keep on coming down and down and down and down and down and ... when will they stop?

And you have to admit it is kind of crazy to refuse people plants and seeds during planting season.  Or to treat all non-essential work as being equally as dangerous.

I feel like at the end of this, when the models are really telling us what already happened, you'll be the kind of expert that will say, look our models were right all along.  We just needed to wait until it was over to get good data.

The states are looking for Congress to give them $500 billion to help them bail out of debt for pensions and other things they can no longer tax their residents for without losing the next election. The president approves and will negotiate all legislative terms with Congress.  If you want to dance, you have to pay the piper.

Anyone who thinks Trump doesn't know how to use the leverage of money hasn't been paying attention the last four years.  Plus you're being an ingrate.  Trump went out of his way to make sure every state got the PPE equipment, hospitals, FEMA stuff, etc that they needed.  So now you say, screw him.  Is that how you do business?  Remember, you want to screw Trump, the guy who put tariffs on China, threatened pulling out of NATO, pulled out of Iran, shut down NAFTA, and doesn't pay his bills rather going to court in lawsuits on about 900 occasions. Cuomo got the picture.  That's why he said that he wants to work with Trump on reopening for business.  He knows how his bread is buttered and not to be disloyal.

Do you think these people will waive their right for a ventilator if they get Covid? If you talk the talk you should walk the walk too.

And yet, every week the models keep on coming down and down and down and down and down and ... when will they stop?

Good, it's working!!! You want to go back to the initial estimates? Go back in the street and to your friends. Then it will bite you.

Oh Armand, how many times do I need to remind you before you stop forgetting, only the very first 2.2M Imperial college model did not account for what  we have been doing.  Every model since then has, and they just keep on coming down and down and down and down and down and ...

You're loosing the conversation here.  Give it another two weeks and people wont give a damn anymore.  Protests are popping up all over the country.

Either accept a controlled get back to work process or it will just open up.

And last, stop giving me this it will bite you bull shit.  I am a young healthy person, and no one like me is dying from this.  Stop with the Trump like hyperbole you dislike so much.

And yet all of the experts, like Fauci & Birx, seem to think differently, not to mention all of the governors too.

Yes...his sheeple following. Can't think for themselves...like that puppy on the dash board that just nods his head in agreement. Really a sad state.

Give me a break.  I know people in Australia, and other countries, who could care less about Trump and lean to the left that are calling for WHO to be broken up and defunded.

You're living in a fantasy brought on by your rabbit TDS.

The only people I know who are against this are those who dislike Trump so much they have a built in sub-conscience reaction to go against everything he says.  That's it, those are the only people who disagree with this.

And you support an asshole who would hold back payments to states in need until they line up behind him and all nod their heads in unison. He'd use the people of the USA as ransom to get his ways. Is this what you are trying to say here?

Yeh...great job. 25,000 dead so far and counting. States bickering with Trump and between themselves. Yeh...great leadership.

And Fauci did say lives would have been saved if action was taken earlier.

Can you define exactly how Trump's decisions saved lives...
