As a president of a ( big) nation he is a role model.
That incudes what he says...
So now we have adopters that take his words for truth and other kind of adopters that seem to know what he actually meant.

Lets see, he lets his experts speak to things in their field of expertise and he speaks about things he wants to happen  or wishes trey could happen.  So you get it all.  Science and Hope.  I guess having hope and expressing that is a bad thing now.

Indeed; that's one of the prime reasons that online conversations become pointless and fail: unlike with a face-to-face, people have time and look up whatever they don't know and then post that as response. Even so, it often becomes clear that people are simply winging it and have no real idea what they are talking about. It comes as an acute disappointment and stifles further engagement with them.

So instead you simply say, well I don't know and neither do you so lets just chat away mindlessly?

Sheesh, you didn't even have a clue about what he said concerning April, and then you go off and spew about talking about things you have no idea about.

Yep...like it will somehow magically go away. The biggest issue with Trump is he spews garbage more than anything of value to the point where you have no idea if its valuable information or just politic positioning. During a crisis is not when you politic...

Craig...you seem to know everything and anything about Trump and everyone else is clueless. In fact, you are starting to sound a lot like Trump...maybe try staying away from his propaganda for a bit.

I am damn near positive my wife and I had this in January.  We had the worse cold of our lives, shortness of breadth, and both were bed ridden for days and had a mild pneumonia.

Haha - I bet that's not a usual symptom of Coronavirus....... :D

For a bunch of photographers at best (one or two people who have also studied medicine excluded), we seem to be an amazing collection of experts on matters medical, on strategy to prevent disease, and upon practically everything else.

Thank goodness we have the denizens of deepest LuLa to hold the guiding candle for us all. We would never make it through this blackest of nights without your light!

I don't know about you Rob - but personally I fancy myself as a rocket scientist. Only last week, to entertain myself with no work to do, and partly to interest our five year old grandson who lives with us - I completed my first plastic construction kit for over 40 years - a Saturn V rocket.  It looks fantastic at over 70cm tall, and I do actually think I could build a real one now if I had enough other photographers to help me.

I simply know what he says and how he says it and I watch it whenever I can, or watch a replay,, and you are showing you don't.  Trump gives you his scientists every time he has a conference, which is everyday and they speak their minds.  Perhaps you should stay away from the media propaganda for a bit.

Added on edit:

As Armand showed, and he did show what the thought he was going to show, Trump didn't say the virus was going away by April, only that hit was his hope.  And guess what, lots of people were hoping that too.  So if wishing for the best while knowing it could be worse...and TELLING that to people via experts in the fields, is screwing up, then I feel for you.

After listening to Bernie's full speech yesterday, I think he is going to screw Biden in the end of this as well.

Not that I think Bernie wont eventually come around to endorse him, but by the fact that he is remaining on ballots in order to force Biden to stay in the far left wing, which is what he said he plans on doing.  If Biden cant move back to the center, he is toast.

Bernie is just not going to let him.  Combine that with no enthusiasm what so ever for Biden, and that will keep Joe Biden from winning.

Chez, he is making the point that the idea that anyone else would have been more prepared is bonk, not to mention impossible to prove.  So we should not take it with credibility.

But it's very easy to prove that he screwed up. When you bring havoc in the structures initially in place to deal with this kind of emergency in a quest for the self fulfilling prophecy that the government is incompetent (and this from someone who went bankrupt so many times), this is what you get. To expect something else it's not reasonable.
Or when you disregard the opinions of those around you, and when they dare to still speak the truth you raise hell on them, as after here: https://www.statnews.com/2020/02/25/cdc-expects-community-spread-of-coronavirus-as-top-official-warns-disruptions-could-be-severe/

No it is not.  You, and the author, are operating under the hindsight fallacy.

The whole premise is that anyone else could have done better in this emergency that not a single person foresaw.  That is a logically unsound argument.

That's just started happening once Trump got scared sh*tless from the deaths that were piling up. Prior to that...he was flying solo. Trouble is now he's working from a major crisis.

Really? So you were in every meeting that Trump took on this issue from day one and know he listened to no one, took and acted on no advice from the experts?  Really?

But others have done better...all over the world. Surely they could have seen how China and South Korea handled things way back in Jan / Feb. Like I said was Trump watching reruns of the Three Stooges at the time and not noticed how the virus affected other countries and how they reacted to control it?

And how do you know "not a single person foresaw" is true? How do you know Trump just disregarded people.

First, really, you're listing China?  The country that jailed those trying to raise the alarm bells, and still are, then let it get out of hand and welded people inside the homes in some cases?  ROTFLMAO!!!

Come on now.  China did a piss poor job; are you really being an apologist for them now.

Second, SK had in place testing facilities prior to this due to H1N1, which is what helped them.  They were lucky, pure and simple.

Well with all the resources the USA has, I can't believe no one knew this virus will run rapid and no one indicated to Trump on actions he must take NOW. Do you really think there was not a single person at Trump's disposal that warned him about taking action?

I think he thought it would all blow over and didn't want to harm the economy before the upcoming election.

Craig...with your posts where you claim no one else could have foresaw this coming...I ask you, were YOU in any of those meetings with Trump?

It's amazing how Biden literally got everything wrong in his entire 5 decade career and people still think he is going to outdo Trump.

Listening to speech he gave in 2011 praising China.

"That a rising China is a positive, positive development not only for China, but for America and the world at large."

Could he have been more wrong?

After all this BS, I dont think it is going to go over well with voters.  Now Biden could admit he was wrong, but I just dont see him doing that.  He will give the typical politician round about answer and screw it up.

Who really cares about the election...I think Trump better figure out how to get out of the catastrophe he's walling in. Death toll out of control...economy down the tubes...and you talk about Biden. Biden might have to be shoveling all the shit left over from Trump come this fall.

Please show me where I ever said such a thing.

Now was the economy a concern and should it have been?  I say yes, and I'll even suggest it was a concern for every Leader in the world as they looked a the shifting information as this virus progressed and made plans to deal with it.

Trump started meeting and set up his task force at the end of January and had the resources in place to help him make decisions and help America including the CDC and the NIH.  Are you suggesting that somehow he should have acted differently prior to the end of January?

To say he was going it alone is silly.
