Well, staying home all the time with nothing else to do might account for that.

I don’t think he was taking about that kind of reproduction, Alan😎

[...]Lots of interesting things about this virus.

Yes, besides the aspect of human suffering. Technically there is a lot more possible nowadays, but there is also a lot of new things that can be learned from this novel type of Corona-virus that might prepare us better for future versions next time around (as long as we do prepare for that likelihood). SARS-CoV-2 also seems to behave differently in several ways compared to earlier versions of the same general family, so that's something to prepare for as well.

One (of several) hard lesson(s) (despite the warnings) was/is the lack of testing ability and the lack of locally available protective gear (face masks, skirts, and the like) for (enough numbers of trained) personnel and equipment for e.g. ICUs.

Since humanity is invading large parts of animal habitats, and global warming is shifting boundaries of climatic zones, we will inevitably see the occurrence of more zoonotic diseases.

They say you start fantasizing when you've been isolating too much.  :)

Hunting for and eating these wild animals adds to the risk.

My town in central NJ just went four days without new cases, the best so far.  Really good news.

Finally there is an explanation why the very young children with Covid19 don't transmit the disease to the adults at the same rate as the older children. Nothing to do with the biology, but with their height.

The reason for a less effective infection by small children is that they are shorter, and if they breath, sneeze or cough, the droplets from that height don't travel as far. Brilliant and sensible explanation!

But you'd think with children not understanding the social distancing thing, not wearing masks...they'd spread Covid between themselves and we should see major outbreaks in children.

I don't know about that. The parents I know bend down to hug and kiss their kids all the time.

That happens. Maybe more often than bending down and spanking the kids.

To clarify - risky situation occurs only if they breathe out.

The US is going even worse  1485 death in one day ( 29july2020 )
many states have 1000 new cases a day.
The John Hopkins Uniiversity asks for a new national approach to the virus or it is only getting worse.
( also Brazil is getting worse and worse)

It looks like it has to go through most of the population before it will stay down "permanently".  Even with isolation, it appears that once you start moving around again, it starts to go back up. For example, New York and New Jersey went through their peaks awhile back.  People isolated.  Now we're starting to get back to normal living and the numbers are ticking back up.  Shutting down again will only delay the inevitable.  Once you open up again it will pick up then too.  Unless it totally dies out in the interim.  Pay now or pay later.

Or manage the openings better and restrict pubs and restaurants with the number of people and distancing. You can open up in a controlled fashion. Testing and contact tracing also allows you to manage outbreaks...rather than just "let the virus rip through the population" aporoach.

Go slow and controlled until a vaccine becomes available.

The virus does not "go through", "stay down", "go back up", "ticking back up", "pick up", or "die out".

I read that paper this morning and it is a great piece of research.  Four boys from two different families.  There have been other genetic findings as well as we are in the golden age of genetic research given all the new tools scientists have.  There was also a paper today that looked at the major mutation that evolved in Europe.  It appears to be more infective but at the same time more sensitive to antibody inactivation.  Lots of interesting things about this virus.
If it's mutating, couldn't we be in for a multi year problem like what happened with the Spanish Flu which lasted four years returning in different strains every year? The second year killed even more people then its first.

It appears that only slows down the spread.  It's like a leak in the plumbing.  You shut off all the [valves=edit], everything is fine.  Once you start opening them again, even slowly, the leak starts up again.  We're controlling the effect not the cause.
