Yes, besides the aspect of human suffering. Technically there is a lot more possible nowadays, but there is also a lot of new things that can be learned from this novel type of Corona-virus that might prepare us better for future versions next time around (as long as we
do prepare for that likelihood). SARS-CoV-2 also seems to behave differently in several ways compared to earlier versions of the same general family, so that's something to prepare for as well.
One (of several) hard lesson(s) (despite the warnings) was/is the lack of testing ability and the lack of locally available protective gear (face masks, skirts, and the like) for (enough numbers of trained) personnel and equipment for e.g. ICUs.
Since humanity is invading large parts of animal habitats, and global warming is shifting boundaries of climatic zones, we will inevitably see the occurrence of more zoonotic diseases.
