Thank God!
I can't stand The Online Photographer site, where the author and everyone else is oh, so polite. He makes sure of that by approving every single forum post. So boring. And devoid of real life.
I tried it for a while; the back catalogue is pretty interesting to read through, but it's fatal flaw for me is that it's a blog and not a forum. Hence, there at least, you're actively discouraged from responding to other posters. So what's the point? I gave up and have never gone back. It's a shame, because Mike is a nice man and writes very well. It's the imposed format wot dunnit in for me.
Anyway, if LuLa goes, then I'll pack in most of the Internet writing too and get a life on the metaphorical sofa. :-)
Leicaphilia is another place blessed with a very good author-owner. Again, a blog, but he isn't hung up on being PC and seeks no financial backers, so speech and opinion are wide open. He also has the advantage of being a damned good photographer himself.
As with TOP, it takes a while for your posts to appear because they have to be vetted first. That can frustrate, as well as the fact that the active readership seems tiny.
Michael did a great job, and at the right time.
