LuLa runs on inertia... the new site on hope.

Isn't that the case with this whole thread? I've always thought that starting it was in poor taste and a bad forum etiquette.

You didn't get it?

Very funny. But I do not want to assume what you meant. Just say it.

With that, Slobodan, I agree with you 100%. It doesn't sit comfortably, which was the point in my earlier reference to Michael's sitting room.

(I agree with you on many things, just not always on the topics we touch on in LuLa.)

I have joined the race with Erik for the highest number of forum posts on photopxl! ;)

But... I will post there as a Canon user. It has always been a secret dream of mines.

Cheers,
Bernard

Maybe this is a bit exaggerated.  :o

But it gave some characters a technique  to insult while covering the back.

I've made it clear that a smiley cannot be used as a shield for rudeness.

+1

I was involved in two photo-sites (as moderator and author of gear reviews), threads like this would be locked immediately.

Jeremy

Intellectual rudeness is perfectly accepted here on Lula, Jeremy, .... (no Smileys) as long the rudeness is semantically wrapped it ‘s all fine, isn’t it?

Thank God!

I can't stand The Online Photographer site, where the author and everyone else is oh, so polite. He makes sure of that by approving every single forum post. So boring. And devoid of real life.

There is very little rudeness here - but then again, I don't look at the gear threads much, so I could be mistaken.

What we have here is a highly developed culture of rubber walls. And political party fixation that's stronger than religion used to be in years gone by.

We all realise that nobody is going to be able to change anyone else's mind, and so the game becomes one of internet tennis; this is perhaps somewhere in the minor leagues?

Hey, it's better than watching tv. And you don't have to pay a licence unless you want to do that and watch more - well, tv.

I tried it for a while; the back catalogue is pretty interesting to read through, but it's fatal flaw for me is that it's a blog and not a forum. Hence, there at least, you're actively discouraged from responding to other posters. So what's the point? I gave up and have never gone back. It's a shame, because Mike is a nice man and writes very well. It's the imposed format wot dunnit in for me.

Anyway, if LuLa goes, then I'll pack in most of the Internet writing too and get a life on the metaphorical sofa.  :-)

Leicaphilia is another place blessed with a very good author-owner. Again, a blog, but he isn't hung up on being PC and seeks no financial backers, so speech and opinion are wide open. He also has the advantage of being a damned good photographer himself.

As with TOP, it takes a while for your posts to appear because they have to be vetted first. That can frustrate, as well as the fact that the active readership seems tiny.

Michael did a great job, and at the right time.
