Democrats are always calling Republicans racist. If they can do that then Republicans can call Democrats unpatriotic. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Conservatives at the Washington Post?
I think you lost perspective living in the Washington DC area.
Alan, the Washington Post has, probably, one of the most truly balanced editorial slates you'll find. Truly. It regularly features full-on Trump defenders (Gary Abernathy, Hugh Hewitt, and more (Edit: Thanks Alan G - Yes, Thiessen and Ed Rogers will defend almost everything Trump does/says)), anti-Trump conservatives (George Will, Michael Gerson, Jennifer Rubin), liberals (Eugene Robinson and others), analysts (EJ Dionne) and everything in between.
Here's the point. You need to consider that when editorial boards like the Dallas Morning News, who have reliably endorsed a conservative for something like 50 years, refuse to endorse Trump, MAYBE the problem isn't "liberal media" - MAYBE the problem is Donald Trump. When people like Paul Ryan say that a Trump comment is "the definition of racist," MAYBE it's not anti-Trump bias - MAYBE it's that Donald Trump is a racist, or at a minimum, uses racial tension to fire up people that ARE racists. Maybe that's better in your book, but knowing you, I don't think it would be if you believed it.
And you're right - the left is all too eager to yell about racism for little or no reason sometimes, or to attribute to conscious racism what is more easily attributed to status quo that some people can't see around, but the fact of the matter is that in this specific case, Donald Trump told 3 Americans - brown women who were born here, in one case to parents who were ALSO born here, to "...go back to where they came from..." Alan, they "came from" HERE! The USA. What the hell else do you need to understand that Donald Trump sees them as "not American" because of their heritage?
And that, my friend, is racism.
