I've been happily printing away with this combination for months now.

I set up user defined size to be 17x25 to get around the weirdness security feature of not being able to write to windows 10 system directories. And have had no issues till today. I looked at the driver and it has the same 2014 copyright.

I haven't printed that size in about a week. But today when I go to print files that have printed just fine they have started to print about 11 inches across the page and no further. I first though it was an issue with ABW but Color shows it too.

Both PS and Printer managing color shows the problem. The image shows up fine in the preview no truncation there...

Any other Red River paper users seeing this weirdness? Of course this only shows up when I have 3 new mats and frames are waiting to be filled for a show...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome!

It seems to be intermittent. I tried PS 19.1.6. Started a print on a damaged sheet and it was fine. Loaded a fresh sheet and it failed again...

Days like this I wish I still drank...

Could be network issue, are you connected by wifi?  Better to go USB or Ethernet IMO.

Interesting thought but it is connected via USB... Maybe I should disconnect and let them find each other again...

Dropped the printer. Deleted and reinstalled the Epson drivers. Reset to factory defaults. One flirtatious full width start on scrap paper then back to 11" on a good sheet. Grrr...

Next step to delete and re-install PS?

This is getting ugly...

this may be relevant (or not).

On the Mac, *sometimes* the driver gets weird and it needs to be 'reinstalled'.

BUT, a normal delete the printer and install the driver isn't enough.  You have to go
deep into the operating system and manually *remove* the driver and associated files.
This is sometimes call the 'Epson Enema'.

Only then can the reinstall of the driver really reinstall it.
It might be a good thing to google around and see where Win10 keeps all the driver files/etc
and see if 'removing' the printer or driver actually removes all those driver files.

I've never had to do a "clean" on W10 printer driver unlike Mac, reinstall has always worked.  I would not jump to reinstalling PS.  The Epson website has W10 drivers dated 10/18 (I couldn't tell from your post as to your driver source), I recommend keeping them current, given the W10 frequent updates.  Also check firmware version.

Don't want to be insulting, but make sure you're printing "portrait" orientation even if you have to flip landscape image in PS, i.e. don't make the printer driver rotate your image.

I had a similar problem once with my 3880, found that the power cord wasn't firmly seated into the printer.

Still thinking - if it fails repeatedly at the same point then maybe start looking at printer spooler sub-system problem, although that should be cleaned out when you re-install.  Also possibly memory issue, either in the pc or printer?

I downloaded the latest Epson drivers before my starting the delete/reinstall cycles. There must be some sort of additional persistence, as the user definded size I added was still there which is why I did the additional factory reset after the first time through. Then deleted/reinstalled again... I deleted the only Epson labeled directories under windows* but it might be worth doing a quick google search to see if there are more hiding out somewhere...

The USB cable is only 8 months old in a completely non traffic area so I can't imagine it could be damaged, but I'll poke around and see if I have another.

Tons of space, I'll check the power cable...

Thanks!

often (again, on a Mac) the custom paper sizes are NOT part of the driver installation location.  It's usually held in some directory that is user specific

Does the orientation and size look ok in Print Preview?

Brian.

have you tried 'system restore'? Just type 'restore' down in the search box, go to 'create a restore point', it brings up the system restore dialog, look for a date that was before your troubles started.

Well two different computers, two different versions of win10, two different versions of PS, two sets of drivers, two different cables and 3 calls later Epson is replacing the printer.

Got the replacement printer overnighted to me. Set it up, printed an image to 17x25 paper size.  STILL doesn't work!

I then tried a 17x22 paper size, works like a charm...

Then I selected Roll paper and threaded the single sheet through the back feeder. That worked too.

So I got the roll paper holder,  a roll of RR paper and a cutter that handles the 17" width paper... So I'm back in business. Grumpier but wiser.

So It would appear that Epson's new driver doesn't support printing to cut sheet  paper sizes other than what are sold by Epson...

Son of chipped carts...

I know the 3880 allows one to print up to a 37 inch long (this is shown in the User Defined window that pops up and it's shown on page 84 of the 3880 manual) by 17 pano from cut paper as per the print driver.  I just looked at the Epson P800 manual and while it does mention creating a custom paper size, it does not show the same type of menu as in the 3880 manual.  Perhaps they have changed the driver because of the different paper path for fine art paper.  Does the user defined Paper Size window give you a maximum dimension?  Perhaps Epson believes that every one printing over 22 inches will use roll paper on this printer.  17 x 25 cut sheets are not widely available.

It also could be that Win 10 updated your driver and eliminated what you were doing before the update.

two different versions of windows 10 on 2 different machines, two versions of PS, two different printers. Same new Epson driver same problem.

The new papersize defined as administrator in the printer preferences dialog is clearly visible in the drop down list of choices.

The issue is the 17" dimension when using a 17x25 size paper. It prints that width fine on 17x22 or on roll paper.

Only a non-Epson sold paper size has issues...

Just so I understand you correctly.  You are inserting a custom paper size of 17x25 and you still have this issue?
