That's the only time I have the issue. 17x22 prints fine, a 17x25 image on 17" roll paper prints fine...

I don't think you answered my question about the print driver.  Here is the 3880 manual - https://files.support.epson.com/pdf/pro3880/pro3880ug.pdf  Look at page 72.  The top dialog box clearly shows the permissible dimensions for a custom size.  Do you see the same thing for the P800 printer?  Also, when you double check your new user defined paper size, what does it say?  If the dialog box allows for a longer print than 22 and this is not happening it leads me to think that it is a driver issue of some kind rather than a printer one given you have received a second printer from Epson already.

The P800 guide does not have any statements about limits on user defined paper sizes.

I believe I have confirmed that it is absolutely an Epson driver issue. The printer(s) and have no issues printing the full width of the 17" paper in 17x22 or roll paper cases. I believe it is rather curious that it used to work fine and now fails only on media sizes not sold by Epson.

Guido,

I may be telling you something you already know, but in the name of being thorough let me offer the following.

I no longer have a P800, but I am using a P5000 and I "think" I remember the driver settings being more or less the same.

I routinely print 17x25" on a Windows 10 machine, no problems.

One thing I used to routinely get confused about is the "height" vs "width" terminology in the driver settings for User Defined sizes.  Is there a possibility that you're reversing input on the numbers defining your paper size?  See the illustration below for how I have mine set up:

I apologize if I'm just adding noise to your issue.

Thanks Rand. No worries! I was clear on the way they were defining sizes...  I have been printing happily on 17x25 user defined size since May, until the new driver came out.

I'm curious as to whether the new driver is dependent on which feed path you use.  Is it the top load path or the fine art paper?  If it's the latter, perhaps Epson were getting complaints and decided to make the driver restrictive.

Alan,

Good thought.

I’m also wondering if he (or someone else) might have an earlier version of the driver package.  Perhaps uninstall, then reinstall an earlier version?

I have only used the top load path and a single pass at putting one through the roll paper slot. The front load "fine art" seems too fiddly so I never use it...

I don't have the old driver and a web search for same came up empty. I have deleted, re-downloaded and re-installed the current driver multiple times to both my desktop and laptop machines and see the same wakyness...

I just had another thought.  I forget what it is called in the 800 menu (perhaps Mark can illuminate), but there is something about designating paper size/type in the printer’s menu.  I had no end of odd things happen until I turned that off, which allows all the paper parameters to be set from within the driver alone.

Is there a possibility that this might be the case with the new driver install, that it is turned on by default?
