The Pigeon Fancier.

You have transported me to London during the sack dress era: I shot a girl doing much the same thing in Trafalgar Square with my Vito B! Come to think of it, that must have been my first street picture. Would have been either '57 or '58... a mate and I drove down there from Glasgow in a Bond Minicar, no less (well, difficult to find anything much less).

Madness. And the faith of the innocents.

Trumpeter Swans
Where was that taken. Are those really swans? No matter, the light and composition makes them look elegant even in that state.

Where was that taken. Are those really swans? No matter, the light and composition makes them look elegant even in that state.

Taken at the historical recreation Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, outside Midland, Ontario. Apparently, Trumpeter Swans were just plain good eatin' to the Hurons and French in the 17th century. By the 1930's fewer than 70 were known to exist, but conservation efforts have brought their number back to over 46,000 birds across North America by 2010. As for the picture, I just liked the light and the scene. Technically problematic – handheld at too slow a shutter speed with no stabilization and a breeze blowing in an open window.
