Which part of that article do you think supports your claim that “ The major predictor of Covid spread are not mask usage or lockdowns, but national obesity rate” ?  (Clue : caseload != spread ).

Regardless of your answer to that question, so what?  Can we order the population to instantly get thin in order to avoid overloading the health system?

Wearing shoes helps prevent stubbed toes.

So does not having any toes. I suggest we demand all Americans to chop off their toes to avoid this problem.

Your messaging is confusing me. I didn't read the previous 4-5 pages in detail but it sounded to me as if you were pushing the views of a lady who doesn't think that there have been "excess" deaths because of Covid at all. I didn't read her work but that's the conclusion that others have alluded to. That struck me to be an extraordinary claim. But you yourself have often expressed the view that Covid is just a flu. So if it's not a thing, why are you quoting articles about how the thing that doesn't exist affects obese people more than others.

What the previous 130+ pages, not to mention previous threads, has shown is that this, whatever it is, is more much than a one variable problem.

Failure on your part again to understand the reference and then incorrectly regurgitate a post here, avoiding all the actual data!

What was written there:
Predictors significantly associated with the total number of reported cases per million were days to any lockdown (i.e. full or partial), median age of population, prevalence of obesity, days to any border closure and number of tests performed per million population (Table 3)

pre-existing socioeconomic characteristics of the country, baseline healthcare capacity, and other health-related population features (i.e. smoking prevalence, obesity rate, and global health indices) may be contributing factors to disparities in outcomes between countries.

What you wrote that is not started there:
Quote
The major predictor of Covid spread are not mask usage or lockdowns, but national obesity rate

It would help if you knew how to read a chart.
And the articles he references when asked to prove his simplistic and wrong opinions.

Which part of that article do you think supports your claim that “ The major predictor of Covid spread are not mask usage or lockdowns, but national obesity rate” ? ...

It is right there, in the beginning:

It is right there, in the beginning:

Indeed - it says fat people get sicker.  What does it say about the disease spreading, and what action does this observation suggest we take? I'm sure the data also show that old people get sicker as well. Shall we suggest that people get younger? I'm happy if you've found a way to do that, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Such creative analysis as usual.
The word ”Mask” is not found anywhere in the article!
Now I'll try and you'll fail: Which part of that article do you think supports your claim that “ The major predictor of Covid spread are not mask usage”?

Keep building that straw man. It says that increasing caseloads (number of cases, a.k.a spread) is primarily associated with obesity rates.

Furthermore, mortality is also associated with obesity etc. and NOT with "rapd border closures, full lockdowns, and wide-spread testing"

It is all there in the big snapshot I posted above, even underlined for you et al to see clearly.

Forced mask usage is closely related to lockdowns.

Besides, don't you find it at least unusual that such a comprehensive analysis, taking into account all other measures applied so far, doesn't even mention masks specifically. To me that speaks enough about mask relevance.

Caseload is a function of severity and not just number.

Regardless - what do you propose we do about it?

More assumed rubbish and utter lack of evidence, extraordinary or otherwise.
Slobodan busted again for posting nonessential statements he can not back up. Using vague assumed generalizations and terms such as ”lockdowns”.

Hi Frans - do you have some contribution to the subject? Or is your role just to follow Andrew around like an annoying little dog?

Thanks.

I am tempted. I've been patiently waiting all these years to hear something remotely intelligent from him, aside from his narrow speciality, Alas...

I could imagine, actually, that masks are a bit like bike helmets and give the wearer an unjustified sense of invulnerbility leadng them to risky behaviour.

That is a completely different subject, but since you are asking, I've been for the Swedish model from day one.

Unless that was sarcasm, I tend to agree.
