Exactly. Japan has made a good case at avoiding the large scale rate of death from Covid-19 compared to the US, which isn't the point Slobodan wants to make or accept. Bringing up suicide and the possibility, again possibility it's due to his continuing undefined ”lock down” is the agenda for again changing the subject.
The major predictor of Covid spread are not mask usage or lockdowns, but national obesity rate. Japan fares much better than the US in that respect.
There is a secondary point, besides the rise being attributed to lockdowns, etc., and that is context in which to put the raw numbers of Covid deaths. If one month of suicides means more death than the whole year of Covid, it should put things into proper perspective of what is more risky and dangerous.
The same thing here in Serbia: every year 4,500 people die of lung cancer, vs. about 1,200 from Covid so far. And that is every year, year after year, vs. Covid which is at worst seasonal. But nobody stopped the economy for that, took the military to the streets with machine guns, or, gasp, thought of banning tobacco, or even smoking in restaurant and public places. But Covid, hey!
