My 98 year old mother in law in an assisted living place is suppose to get hers tomorrow.  Is Canada going to change the schedule of who gets it earlier?

Hopefully, they have enough vaccines to vaccinate the oldest groups. It was reported that the Trump administration inflated the size of the US vaccine stockpile and that many hospitals are experiencing vaccine shortage.
In Canada at present time, they are giving vaccines only to long-care home residents and medical personnel. No registration exists for general public yet.

Quote
Confusion over a vaccine supply windfall that was promised to governors but failed to materialize arose as scattered shortages emerged on the frontlines of the most ambitious and complex immunization campaign in U.S. history, prompting at least one large New York healthcare system to cancel a slew of inoculation appointments.

Just 10.6 million Americans have received a shot since federal regulators last month granted emergency approval to two vaccines, one from Pfizer Inc and BioNTech and a second from Moderna Inc, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported. That tally falls far short of the 20 million vaccinations the Trump administration had promised to administer by the end of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic raged virtually unchecked with ever-increasing record numbers of infections, hospitalizations and deaths.

Possibly more Trumps to come, https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/15/ivanka-trump-political-future-459758.

Does it bother others how political legacies are handed down within families, Kennedy, Trudeau (in Canada), Bush, maybe Trump one day? May as well have kept monarch rulers.

The reason America is ahead of Canada in distribution is because of Trump's Warp Speed program.  The reason you're reading negative news is because the anti-Trump press will try to make it seem like Biden is saving the day.

Trump doesn't do the injections.  That's up to the states to do.  The problem registering that we had was because of NJ state government, not Washington DC.  The press is blaming the federal government for the deficiencies of state governments just as they blamed Trump for shutdown decisions, also made by the individual governors.  When will you read past the headlines between the lines and stop blaming Trump?

Of course, nearly forgot about Steve Bannon, https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/15/trump-weighing-bannon-pardon-459765.

After Steve bannon he will probably pardon all the people that entered the capitol.

Well now that could be a great job for him in his post Pesidential time. Just give him the right vaccin and check if its not his own medicine, you never know with Trump.

I wouldn't put Justin Trudeau together with Trump or Bush. Trudeau campaigned hard to qualify as a MP candidate, got elected, served two terms as MP for Papineau district in Montreal, and then he campaigned and won as Canada Prime Minister. Instead of riding in a golf cart like his colleague south of the border, he boxes, snowboards and paddles canoe.

Ah, well... Those ferries (not tax free anymore as both Sweden and Finland are in the EU) did show the worst in our attitude to alcohol, so it is not a representative sample (I am drinking single malts at my mansion by the fireplace with two Papillons on my lap as I type away). But anyway happiness springs from security, we need not to worry about getting decent living, getting education to our kids, getting medical care, calling the police without danger of getting shot.

Well, if the ferry stops in Aland, they can still sell duty free  8)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%85land_Islands  Quote The abolition of tax-free sales on ferry boats travelling between destinations within the European Union made Finland demand an exception for the Åland Islands on the European Union value-added tax rules. The exception allows for maintained tax-free sales on the ferries between Sweden and Finland (provided they stop at Mariehamn or Långnäs) and at the airport, but has also made Åland a different tax-zone, meaning that tariffs must be levied on goods brought to the islands. Two million people visit the Åland Islands every year - but most of them just for a few hours before the ferry returns again, or the passengers change from one ship to another.[42]

I knew somebody would bring this up. That is why I was careful to answer to a post saying "I took a ferry from Vaasa in Finland to Umea in Sweden", as they do not visit Åland Islands along the way.

More Trumpist bullshit.

Canada is a nation much larger than the US, and has far less infrastructure (thats roads, Alan, and airports) to serve it.

Infrastruture is beside the point and a copout.  You're making Canada into a third world nation.  Please.  Most Canadians live in big cities by the US border.  Maybe Les can explain why it's going slower in Canada.  How's it going in Europe?  Just maybe America is doing a better job getting and distributing the vaccine.

Unfortunately, our states are behind the eightball.  They're scrambling now to get the rest of the shots into people's arms that they already received because they weren't prepared. Our governors had 6 months knowing the vaccine was coming.  Yet, they did not prepare. They were too busy complaining about TRump rather than doing their jobs and getting people ready in their state to give the shots.  So again, they're shifting the blame for their not being ready to give the shots to Washington.   Now that's Bullshit.

I think, that it was due to the available vaccine volume rather than to the distribution method. We have to import the vaccine and by now we have already run out of the available doses. By March, the vaccine shipments should be substantially higher, so by end of the summer most Canadians should be protected.

You know, that's true enough. My mother lives in his riding, btw, he still does a bit of door to door during elections.

I don't know how much Dubya and Jeb owed to the Bush dynasty, but I don't see Ivanka as earning the top job by virtue of past experience or skill set. But electing Presidents seems to be different, somehow, at least these days. Maybe any old public profile will do. It's hard to know exactly kind of job experience is beneficial, but some knowledge of history should be required.

The whole rollout is only a week or two old, might be a bit early to make comparisons. Anyway, how do we know for sure things are going better in the US?  We can't trust the "fake news" media, we've been told on numerous occasions.  :)

So America and Trump did a better job than Canada and Trudeau getting the vaccines ready and secured.  Now it's up to our states and governors to do their end.
