When I was running my own company, my title was President. That was before CEO became trendy. Nobody calls me President these days.

Hmm ... I was once president of a local photo club

What are we protecting?   British independence from Europe?  :) What do you think we're protecting for us?  That the Russians don't overrun Europe?  Do you really think they're going to attack?  More probably it's to prevent European countries from killing each other again. That seems to be a regular hobby of yours.

So perhaps the US should just build lots of forts all round it's coast, pull up the drawbridge, and let the rest of the world do it's own thing?

Have you not noticed that the US has advanced bases all round the world so that they can react to anything that threatens their trade or interests?  Not to mention a fleet of carriers.  We used to half-jokingly call the UK an unsinkable American aircraft carrier.

The US is in NATO so that any military action if wants to get involved in can be executed well away from the homeland. When was the last time (except for acts of terror) that any foreign power actually was able to directly attack or bomb the US landmass.......

As i mentioned before,
In 1,323 days (sept4 2020), President Trump has made 22,510 false or misleading claims
 source   :   https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/trump-claims-database/?itid=lk_inline_manual_4
If there was any fake news the last 4 years Trump was the main source...
his last fake news will be his recent tweet:
“He only won in the eyes of the FAKE NEWS MEDIA,” Trump subsequently tweeted. “I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go. This was a RIGGED ELECTION!”

In my area, I know several photographers who were at one time presidents of a photo club, and now they carry a business card with a title Past President, XY Camera Club.

Yeah but you miss the point that in Alan's eyes any media organisation that criticises Trump is by definition selling fake news, so you must conclude that Trump is perfect.

I believe President is a legal title as you are an officer of the corporation and have specific legal responsibilities other employees don't have.  You are personally responsible for corporate taxes being paid for example.    CEO Chief Executive Officer is a functional title like Chief Cook and Bottle Washer.  Like you I always used President.   I was also Secretary and Treasurer. My company was too small to have a CEO. :)

That's true to a certain extent , Jim.  But things have changed a lot since the end of WWII.  The Soviet Union is gone.  America is broke.  Europe was broke.  Now they're rich.  We may be forced to cut back in the future.  Our budget deficits are growing by leaps and bounds.  We can't afford to be the policemen to the world anymore. Plus the dangers have shifted to Asia.

Seriously? I have heard that photo clubs are a bigger deal in Canada than the U.S., but I had no idea the officers printed up cards. But why not? I have cards that say "Photographer" on them. I had them printed up when I had a show. You can get about a million cards printed up for $10.99 at Vistaprint. I carry one in my wallet so if I am hit by a car while walking my dogs, whoever finds me will know my name. Who knows, I may sell him a print.

Now, now, calm down. Don't be so touchy. It was just an exaggeration, or perhaps an aspirational statement. He was likely just pretending to be a salesman from Queens. It could also be an alternate fact. Perhaps he didn't want you to panic. Not to mention it could be [insert one of your other bullshit excuses for Trump lying here].

Here's an analysis of the Trump era, more or less, from someone on the outside, https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2020/11/14/a-postmortem-of-a-colonial-election/ ?. Always useful to get the point of view from someone who sees things differently or in a wider context.

Note to pro-Trump snowflakes, don't read it. :)

Scott Atlas, everyone's favorite radiologist, and Trump's personal advisor on all things COVID related, not to mention champion of natural herd immunity, has tweeted to the citizens of Michigan this advice following the governor's imposing new lockdown measures in the face of rising COVID case numbers and a 1,000 deaths a week:

"The only way this stops is if people rise up,” Atlas said on Twitter. “You get what you accept. #FreedomMatters #StepUp.”

You may remember Michigan is one of the states in which armed "patriots" got all decked out in camo and invaded the capitol with guns at the ready, and hatched a plot to kidnap and kill the governor. Looks like Scott Atlas is angling for an honorary membership in the Proud Boys, Trump's favorite militia.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/michigan-gov-whitmer-slams-trump-adviser-who-encouraged-residents-rise-n1247889

Biden carried Michigan by about 150,000 votes. Trump's lawsuits claiming massive voter fraud have been summarily dismissed. Republican leaders in the Michigan legislature have thrown cold water on the idea of electing an alternate slate of pro-Trump electors to thwart the will of the voters.

Meanwhile, everyone in the UK is agog with the news that Kate Middleton's hair is now golden blonde and wavy. Will Meghan be next?
