Lonely in Chicago
« on: February 08, 2015, 11:58:35 am »

I am reposting this with a different crop. Actually, without any crop, other than for perspective correction. A slightly different take on the lonely tree theme:

Works for me. I think I prefer this to the cropped version (even though my name isn't Russ).
The colors are just right. BW would not work for this one.

Indeed. B&W would convey just one aspect of the image: lonely nature against man-made structures. Color adds another: warmth of the nature vs. coldness of the artificial. And again, as I mentioned on another thread, warm colors appear to advance, cool colors appear to recede, creating a sense of depth.

Exactly. Lovely image, very graphic, helps to understand the relationship between different colours and the impact they have on one another.

The tree makes the shot and the title. Nice interplay between warm tree and cool (as in blueish) buildings.

Even though he (the tree) is on top of most of it, he's essentially just lurking in the shadows of those metal, glass and stone giants..

Very good Slobodan, love it, Regards, Sander

I like to try for an 8x10 vertical crop, but in this case, I think the 2x3 gives a better sense that the buildings are "looking down" on this poor, pitiful, and lonely tree. Except, he's not really alone because he has that greenish companion to his right; clone it out?  ;) The blue-yellow creates a lovely contrast (of course). And congrats on being recognized as one of the top city photographers!

Love the tree on the rooftop. We have one of those here in OKC. It makes for an interesting juxtaposition. Well done. Very nice shot.

Very strong. I especially like to stand back and view it as an abstract of color and shape collections.

Gosh, that looks terrible! I think you need to get some expert PP advice, maybe from that guy whose initials are SB.   ;D
