Capture One Pro 8 available now!
« on: September 16, 2014, 04:42:06 am »

Dear LL,

I will keep this short but we have just announced Capture One Pro 8...

http://www.phaseone.com/en/Imaging-Software/Capture-One.aspx

There are plenty of great features to make this a must have upgrade, including Catalog enhancements, Performance Enhancements, Local Adjustments enhancements (yes you can do local WB, HDR and more!).

There are now more buying choices too.  You can buy a complete licence as you always have done with Capture One Pro 7, or also choose to subscribe.

I will leave you to browse the website with all the information.

If you want to fast track to get the 60 day trial you can download here...

http://www.phaseone.com/en/Downloads/Materials/Download-Capture-One-8.aspx

You will also like the new design and interface, I am sure.  ;)

Great news! downloading the trial version right now ;D

One quick question: I haven't seen any mention to OpenCL in the web, assuming it has been improved at least a little bit, is it supporting dual GPUs (macbook pro and mac pro mainly)?

Any date expected for the certification program? I was waiting for the one on V7 but maybe waiting a couple months gets me V8.  :)

I'd love to upgrade David, but your website on my Firefox browser seems to be a bit askew and I can't see how to log on. If I click "log on to see your licenses" or "my pages" button nothing happens.

Ian

Edit. Just tried your site on Chrome and that seems to be fine. Problem is, it's on a different machine.

First impression is great, cool design and in a very informal test is quicker than previous version: from 33 sec to 19 in rendering previews and from 48,5 sec exporting to 38 in my very informal testing at home  ;D

PS: Be sure t activate OpenCL, it was off in my computer at first.

I've just tried to use IE which is on my PC, and although I can log on, purchasing the upgrade seems to be a problem. Is it just me?

Dave,

I gave it a try this morning to check out this new Capture One 8, however nothing seems to be working on your site.
Clicked on buy now and also upgrade but nothing is working. I do have Capture One 7 and was looking to upgrade.
Guess I will have to give it a try later when the site is working.

Yes - lots of additions to OpenCL.  If you are lucky enough to have a dual D700 MacPro the speed is ridiculous!

Hey Stuart,

It is a brand new website so thanks for your feedback.

We will work hard to look into it.

First of all, try clearing your browser cache if you have visited Phaseone.com before.

Great!  Can I ask what version of Firefox you were trying and what OS?

David - the one video I was particularly interested in watching (Repairing and Spotting Images) currently loads an Albert Watson vid. Just an fyi.

Hi David,

Just wanted to let you know I just tried again and site was working.  In fact I was able to purchase the upgrade from 7 to 8 with no issues.
Upgrade went very smooth after downloading upgrade version 8.
I am currently running on a MacBook Pro Retina 15" (June 2012) with 16GB Ram with 512GB Flash Drive along with 1GB video ram.
Images are stored on a Drobo 5D via Thunderbolt.
Overall performance with version 8 seems to be much improved.
So fare I am happy with the upgrade to version 8.

quick question - I left C1 upon release of v7 and didn't follow much... in v8 for Sony raws (A7* cameras for example) does P1 apply optics correction parameters written by Sony in .ARW raw files if you select "Profile : Manufacturer Profile" (it certainly seems so - but just in case it never hurts to ask people who might actually know)

You are correct.  We can read the data provided by Sony.
