Don't ever recall this ever being mentioned during all the hoo-haa over Adobe CC subscription. Anyway if you still hate CC and want to try something else you can try Zoner Photo Studio for nothing today.

I haven't tried it myself, but I assume it's free free, because it seems to be for the 'older' version 15, and they hope you will upgrade to the more recent (version 16) one ...

Even if you pay to upgrade ($89) it seems like a hell of a bargain.  Allegedly it is LR and PS rolled into one and does everything short of making your morning coffee.  Would love to hear from anyone who has given it a test run.
