This image was taken in somewhat heavy overcast light and so is a little flat - very little specular light. But I thought the graphic pattern was strong, so I took the shot anyway.

In addition to the strong graphic quality and appealing composition, I like the random reflections in the windows.

It was a beautiful foggy day yesterday, so we went out looking for woodland areas to photograph. Kind of dangerous to park on the shoulder when the fog is so thick. But went to this area where we found a more suitable place to park. Here is one result that I played around with.

Hi John,

Curiously, to me, the previous one has just the right abstract and surreal quality, while this one is slightly less exciting (to me).

But these inspire me to try again to find some blurry tree photos. I tried some quite a whiile back, inspired by your earliest moving forest images, but I didn't get anything that was worth posting. It obviously takes a lot of practice and a good eye to get to your level.

Try 1/8-1/4 sec with moderate telephoto, like 50mm and up (70-200 zoom is good) . You can use 1/15, but then you really have to move the camera a little faster. Use small fluid movements, not jerky. Trigger shutter same time as you start movement, it's almost instantaneous. If you use wider lens, try at 1/4 of sec to ensure blur is transmitted. If on long end, say 200mm, movement is more erratic due to hand and body movement, slight movement produces greater and exaggerated effects, so be judicious. Now it's up to you to find the right subject matter!

Huh, I was driving down to England from Scotland one year in the mid-70s and stopped somewhere to ask directions that my local map didn't make clear. I got out of the car in some High Street or another and asked a passing pedestrian if he knew the way to Luton and he said yes, thanks! Had I been bigger, I'd probably have spent the night in jail.

This sort of image should be banned for its indecency! If it's not good enough for Fuji (officially) to tolerate, then why must we be forced to look? It could make us go blind!
