Thank you, this is what happens when you don't focus properly  ;)

Tree Candy...

PhotoShop has revealed to me that the cheerleader going through her routine beyond the sun-lit stream through the trees cannot easily be improved upon.

But I can't help trying.

The over all composition is something I given up trying to improve upon, it's too good.

I worked on that image, back and forth all morning...I feel your pain.

This happens when you try to get off a quick shot of a Heron striking a fish with your shutter still set for the previous evening's milky way photo. I kind of like it.

I haven't been on the forums much, and not for a long time.  I took these at Pedernales Falls State Park in Texas.

ABS-2 JPG, very nice, Armand! Two circles and an amorphous form leave a lot to the imagination.

Not the most abstract but it like it. Darth Vader's space module.

PS. it's amazing how on the Fuji I can get sharp at minus 2.5 stops without stabilization and yet on the Nikon I can have issues with 1/FL with VR on

I'm back on the lights but it's not very abstract although it is not intended to be taken literally :)

Abstract #14 by tanngrisnir3, on Flickr

This is very nice, could think of space if the DOF would have covered more of the disk.

John R - I really like this type of shot and they are surprisingly difficult to make as good as this. Seems to me you have to choose the plant carefully and then also avoid the sky unless it's very clear blue otherwise it blows out readily.  Then you need some other colours like your green and gold.

Thanks!  It was shot at 5.6, and with that lens, I could have gone up as high as F11, but I'm so used to shooting it at either 4 or 5.6 that I didn't think to try that.

I did try some at 1.8, and they pretty much sucked.

Thank you Mike. Quite right, the technique is easy enough, but it takes practice to get it right and to deveop an eye for seeing how the shapes will turn out.

Like this one, where I included the sky because I could not resist the composition-

Or this one, which as you have noted, avoids the sky and white streaks, and allows the verticals and colours to create my composition-
