I tried, but nothing happened (but it left a smudge on my computer screen.)   :(

Natural patterns aplenty.

And the entire critter, though just 13 mm long, is only a little less wild.

Yes wild. But I must say I like the whole critter image even more.

So do I, John. But it's not often one gets to see the astonishing close up patterns and details in small bugs like this.

I agree Arlen. Let the patterns and colors play on.

Agreed. It seems to be beautifully saying "wake up, happy days are here again." Or something like that.  :)

The more I look at it, the more I like it, as I imagine it hanging on a wall. Substantial unprintable colors, but soft proofing suggests it would still look good on, say, Ilford Gold Fibre Silk baryta (no longer available), or even, though more subdued, on Epson Hot Press Bright.

That's just the sort of thing you often find on your daily walk, John?

Very nice!

Quite intriguing. I know we probably shouldn't ask, but this is one where I feel the need for a clue as to what it is, or how it was done, if you care to shed light on the mystery.

Here is the original image, I believe it is a tinsel ornament that the kids hung in the park along with all kinds of other things. I deleted the image that actually looks like tinsel because I did not like it, and it is not what I was after. This is what I have left -  the one I liked. I really wanted a blur because the tinsel was moving. But without a tripod I could not hold it steady enough. So I moved the camera!

I mirrored the image and pano-stitched it. Then mirrored, flipped, and pano-stitched it again. Then I tried the polar coordinate, distortion filter on it. I didn't like it, so I tried selecting two colors and that worked for me. I noticed the futuristic digital like face and cropped it to emphasize the eyes and face. I don't use PS or Lightroom, so no history. Just experimentation until I see something I like.

So Eric, I did take this on my walk, kind of... 8)

The original shot is fascinating, but what you did with it is superb.

Well, you get a "bravo" from me. Starting from something unsatisfying but with potential, you kept modifying it until it became not only very interesting, but unique. No one has ever made something quite like this, and likely no one else ever will. Pretty much the definition of creativity.

Thanks Arlen.

Played with this one a bit. the colours are true, but I elected to present as half black and white.

No doubt taken as a single shot with your new half-monochrome half-color Johnrikon .
