It worked.  Metering was inconsitent for some reason I could never figure out.  I did not see a real advantage in the corners over the 35mm f1.4 Sigma or even the 24-70mm f2.8 nikkor at 35mm when stopped down to f5.6 or so, comparing shifted images with the PC-Nikkor with the other lenses perspective-corrected in Lightroom.

I used to have one and thought it the bee's knees with film until I scanned and put a tripod-shot image into digital: It wasn't really as sharp as I'd always felt it to be. Okay for web use, but I wouldn't expect to make prints of any size from it.

I guess it just depends how big you want to go with the images you might make with it. As always, it's up to the user.

However, it was an easy lens to use hand-held, too, making the adjustments on the fly.

Rob, that was just my experience too. It was a walk-around lens for me in film days, loved being able to correct keystoning, learned how to do it handheld.  I was looking to go old-school with it on the D800E, but the results were sort of "meh," I could do just as well with a modern lens and PP corrections and have a more fluid shooting workflow to boot.  But I sure loved it back in the day, it was indeed the bees knees....

Just thought: here are two from Kodachrome or, possibly, Velvia.

P.S. How odd: the second shot, the street scene, has a border exactly the same as the one above it, but for some reason, it doesn't show...

Hello,

Just took these shots of my apartment building.

Two of the shots are with a Nikon 35mm Shift lens on a Nikon D800E @16.0 and the wider two are with a Nikon 24mm PC-E lens also at F16.0.

I live view focused on the fountain.

Also the link below will allow you to down load the raw NEF files.

Though I still have my 28mm and 35mm pc lenses now that i have my D800, i just sont use them any more (but that small size is nice!)

I aimply use my 24mm PC-E and the DX crop. 16mp is still a nice and large file.

I would't imaging that lens perform that good. I have my thought on the Nikon 28mm 3.5 PC

The 28 is defininely a cut below the 35mm both in resolution and barrel distortion

I have all Nikon's PC and PC-E lenses, including cherry-picked 28 and 35s.  I agree that the 28 and 35 are comparable in quality to a modern Nikkor with perspective correction done in post.  I still use the PCs though, as I prefer the workflow.  Smallish differences in sharpness aren't that much of a concern - If I need more detail, I'll use MFD.  35mm system is more about speed for me.

There seems to be something special about the 28 too, color-wise.  I haven't investigated too closely though for fear of losing the romance!

Thanks for the advise. The 35mm is not enough wide for what I intend to use.
Maybe better wait for a better formula from Nikon.
