I like this very much, Larry. A little unusual and very effective. Well done.

Mark, the tree and the mystical mountain ridges by themselves alone would make for a stellar shot; together, framed as here, you've created a bit of magic. Beautifully done.

Of course, it would look much better in the proper Trees thread  ;)

In B&W, with a red filter, that would look equally arresting

Being stuck in winter, I am glad to have seen many of these fine images.

I'll play. Here are four. The first two are the same location on different days. They're from the top of Mt Scott in the Wichita Mountains of SW Oklahoma.
#3 is from Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs and the last one is near my house in central Oklahoma.

Richard:

Nice images - No.1 really caught my eye.  Truly great capture.  Thanks for posting this.

I have to ask, is there a tern or seagull setting on the end of the lower right branch? I can imagine a bird flying in against the apparent wind direction as given by the stems in the foreground and alighting on the tip of the branch.

I have noticed bird like figures myself but alas there are no birds. It is the natural form of the tree.

I love your red tree, James :)

Over here, in northern Europe, it is winter ... I guess some things are deregulated on this planet : Green grass and even some daisies are flowering ...
