Frank,
I like the shot number 2. Very nice composition.
Also I have to say that I very much dislike the shot number 1. These two do not look like they are shot by the same photog, nor does the shot number one does any justice to the pretty girl from shot 2 and 4. Just my opinion, hope you do not mind.

Thanks Andre.
No harm done of course.
I love number 1 but that's more personal

can I post something that I had in a mag that wasn't shot with a 35mm DLRS? I just got it in the mail today...
from the newest altpress:

the original was TERRIBLE.  I shot it chimped and thought "wow.. delete that..."
then I was up in canada and sent it with 10 other pictures to a magazine.
I edited it as above with the direction "make it back and white and like life magazine"
I did that instead and won. it is easily the best looking image that I've had in a magazine.
this is the original

nikon D2x 17-55mm the band is underoath which is one of my dirty little secrets.

wow... if I sent that to my gf, she would tell me to get that camera right now (she's from campobasso, italy).  wow... unlike the pictures of the girl on the beach which would cause her to crush my camera.

Hi,

Street photos, Firenze (Florence, Italy), hand held Med format. I basically stood in one place and snapped the people as they walked by.

Some street photography from Shanghai, a few weeks ago.

Taken with my Frankenkamera: Bronica SQ-B, W/L finder, PS 80mm f/2.8, Silvestri V adapter, Hasselblad Ixpress V96C, handheld in 43 degrees C (109.4 F) weather. Phew!

are you serious? that's beautiful... but where do you live and why don't people steal that stuff?  Around here, people would pee there when you weren't at home.

I am in San Francisco.  Luckily that balcony is on the second floor of my building.  I'm the only one peeing here.

that's awesome.  I'm totally 100% live free or die from the north east.
my bf lives in LA and when it's 0 and snowing here and I'm afraid that the pipes will freeze, he'll comfort me by saying "yeah, I forgot my sweater today"

What's the advantage of a ringflash over a "normal" flash in these situations? I've noticed a lot of photographers who shoot fashion on location use a ringflash.

I've never understood why though. Anyone care to enlighten me? :-) Frank?

it's simpler then you would think actually.

I use the ringflash in many ways from dominant lightsource to fill in flash but also off camera.
The advantage is that I don't need to bring another head. Just disconnect the ringflash and have an assistant hold it and you have a completly different look and on location it's always take as little as possible.
