it's simpler then you would think actually.

I use the ringflash in many ways from dominant lightsource to fill in flash but also off camera.
The advantage is that I don't need to bring another head. Just disconnect the ringflash and have an assistant hold it and you have a completly different look and on location it's always take as little as possible.
[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=219919\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]

I would like to second this. I often use a ringflash as a 2nd fill off camera axis. For me the main reason is that i do not have a 2nd flash head for my 7b so on location it's ring + 1 normal head and thats it

But it works a little like a beautydish with a very strong flash head inside (as the ring flash has its own flashtube obviously)

There are purists out there who scorn at this use saying its useless, but hey what works works. I've even used the sun for lumination on occasions

Copy work for a glass artist in Carmel, to be submitted to the Corning Museum New Glass Review.  I made a simple composite for the artist printed on Kodak Endura Metallic.

Phase 645 (Thank you Chris at Capture Integration!)
Phase P30
Mamiya 75-150

Is the water one a composite, or did you actually shoot it that way? I'd be curious to see a schematic of your setup. Great shot!

Thanks.
For the water one,I use a D700(sorry it's not MF) and 105VR, with 3 strobes, and it's a composite. I shoot water, plant, fish and products separately.
For the girl I use a 450D and 24-70/2.8L with 5 strobes.

Don't mean to be critical, but there is a 'Recent Works' thread in the 'Digital Cameras, Backs and Shooting Techniques' forum for 35mm and equivalent work, here:
http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index....showtopic=24443

This thread is for Medium Format.  Just so you know...  Nice images, though!

Yes I know this is a MFDB forum, but I saw 135 threads here too, and 135 pics in this thread too. So it's more like a "working pro's" forum for my understanding, actrually this the most "pro" forum I can find and that's why I love here.

Anyway if everyone wants to take it more seriously, it's easy to set up a rule.

dustblue has a point: in the previous thread, there were some non digital back images posted, and in some of those cases, no one dared to call the poster on it...if the db requirement is the rule, then everyone who does not conform, from the famous to the infamous, needs to be told the same thing....

even michael has mentioned in the past that this part of the forum really is the working pro forum (which developed out of the MF forum and still carries that name)....

i don't think anyone would have doubted for one second if dustblue would have said that these images came out of a mf back.....now that he is honest and they happen to be shot with a DSLR he should remove them? that is just silly....

these are high quality images and this is the right place for them....i really don't see the point in allowing ANY image just because it comes from a P45....

there is sadly a certain "elitist" view among some people here, who actually believe that because they paid a higher admission, others should not be allowed to play....

really it is up to michael to sort this out and maybe he will put an end to this by either re-naming the section of the forum or setting up a new sub-forum (i actually don't see the point in that either...everybody knows why they come HERE....)

let's face it....the borders are getting blurred and the reality is that most people shoot both and often on the same job and in the end it is the images that tell the story....

this part of the forum is important because provides the only space (i know of) where i can come and ask questions (in one post) touching every aspect of a job, from preproduction to retouching....i would not post these questions in the LR, aperture or digital imaging part of the forum altough by definition that is where they should go....

sorry for the semi rant but this is a very important/interesting thread and i can't stand seeing good quality contributions being questioned like that....

and as we all know james often posts images shot with canon or leica and nobody asks him to take them down....the thread would be a lot less interesting without them....

P45+ and 150mm/2.8 Which I really love. Fantastic lens.
