I just Love My RZ...:+]
This for a client shot the other day...
A little young for my normal Clientele but I like how they came out..
I do my retouching and for those that retouch I think they appreciate the quality even more than the photographer in MFDB files..
I sure do..
Every time I open a file I am still amazed at the Quality...

To add mediun format relevant content I have tried this series (I'm up to about 70 Quebec

To complicate matters,every subject is living (although some are refrigerated to slow
them down a bit) and all are released. All survived excdpt for a couple of mosquitos!

Another From a more classic client but I liked this....
RZII with the 65mm Cropped in pretty tight..
Yet another advantage to the 30 megapixel and up backs is the ability to really crop in on an image and still retain printable images...
Never got that on the Canon...:+}

Today Roosmarijn visited the studio for a quick session.
Main reason was to test the Mamiya RZ67ProII with the Leaf Aptus digital back.
Shot was done with the 110mm f2.8 lens.
And a new focus screen is on order although the shots turned out sharp focussing was problematic with low key settings.

Frank your doing a lot of post right?
The really Plastic skin is all post right?
I have always noticed the Leaf system looking plasticy but usually your the only one posting semi fashion Lifestyle type pictures that you turn really plastic the skin always on your models..
Is that all post?
I always heard that leaf guys say the same about Phase...But I only have your images that you post to go by, which are really Post Processed..
Your a curios question, not that anything there is anything wrong with plasticy skin...:+}

Question for Frank and Snook.

Since both of you are using 645 AFDII and RZ67 Pro II, how would you compare the two systems
in usage as well as the results? Any input on strengths and weaknesses for studio fashion and beauty work would be much appreciated.

@Snook.
Downscaling does alot of harm for the way I process the images.

I compared the Imacon (hassy), Phase one and Leaf before I bought and the Leaf had the best skintones and shadow detail, very closely followed by Phase one.
I do some skin smoothing but most of the problems is the downconversion to the net, and I hate to do my work twice, once for the net and once for the prints

@rgmoore,
This was my first test session with the RZ67 ProII.
What I CAN say is that the contrast of the RZ lenses seem to be better than from the Mamiya 645, also small details like chains etc. seem to have a more 3D look, which is probarbly due to the contrast.
But I really have to shoot more to be sure.
First I will wait for the new focusscreen.
Outside focussing is no problem, also with alot of lights no problems, but this session I used alot of striplights and than focussing became very problematic, it can be done by the way, but I like to shoot handhold and faster than the RZ allows me now.

I had the same problem,Different Story, got a new screen and you can not take the RZII out of hands now...:+}
Which screen did you get?
Anyways enjoy.. your going to love it..
PS. Get the 140 Macro if you can.. it is sweet also..:+}

I ordered the brighter screen, somehow I got the best vibes from that one
I ordered #5, prism with the diagonal split.
And they will engrave the crop lines in it.

Total costs arround 375.00 US with shipping.

I already liked working with the RZ, but it's a bit getting used to the left/right
Felt a bit seasick after the shoot, but it will get better I think when I don't have to think about focussing only.

at the moment I own the 110mm f2.8, 95 and 180mm 3.5
I will look into different lenses when I have everything working the way I want.

The funny thing is when you change back to the 645AFD/II the viewer seems like poststamp.

We’ve been in Alaska now going on three weeks and currently in Homer. Went out earlier this morning and found ourselves in 2 Sisters Bakery. Fresh coffee, rolls..you get the idea. Anyway I had my Mamiya/P30+ along with the 28mm lens and took a fast handhold shot from inside and this was the result; landscape of a slightly different venue.

I went with just the Vertical Split screen from Mamiya and it was a Huge improvement over the "normal" screen.
Please let us know which and how you like it..
350.00 sounds kind of high..?
