Just as an aside, this is why it is better if the photographer does not reply to comments. Someone should be free to say an image is ugly (better to say why than to just make a statement) without getting an explanation of why their opinion isn't correct. The critic may need an eye exam, a new monitor (or the current one calibrated), but a critique of another's image isn't the time for that.
The object of a critique isn't to show the rest of us how good we are. That is what galary shows are for. Critiques are for learning from our failures and successes.
I also find it interesting that when the critic says something to the effect that the image is beautiful, there usually isn't a rebuttal for explanation of the image or type of monitor used or the latest eye exam results.
